What are some of your family traits that have been passed down? It can be genetic or something that you learned from a family member. Like cooking etc...
some of the traits that my family has is our large ears and hieght. we are very tall. Being a good cook runs in my family too. Unfortunetly I am not that good at it. We are also very stuborn and strongly opinionated.

I'm still trying to figure that one out. We are all soooo, very different. We can have a great sense of humor, and love to make people laugh; but the kids are on opposite ends of the spectrum. You would never know we came from the same family. Height, weight, eyes, hair... keep wondering if we were dropped off one by one by a stork or something.

Both sides of my family are very different. My great-grandparents were rock hounds, and they passed on a sense of adventure and a love for natural history. There is musical talent, ...and a mixed heritage from many backgrounds. Heinz 57 as they call it here, when your ancestry is mixed. Most of my family doesn't live in Cal, so I follow my own rules.

My moms family lives to ripe old ages. My great grandmother was almost 98 when she died her brother was in his 90's too. My grandfathers sister lived til she was 89 and his other sister died when she was approx.90. My Grandfather is turning 91 tuesday and my grandmother it 88.
My dads family is quite the opposite. His mom and dad had 15 kids 1 died at birth and so far not many have lived past the age 70.
I hope I take after my moms side when it comes to old age.

It had me thinking... the cross pollination between quirky and flat Jim might have rendered cute aliens... with big blue eyes and nice teeth (well... assuming that alien babies are born with theeth...) ... some traits to pass on... ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

I look like both of my parents.
I learned "meat and potatoes" cooking from my mom, but my father was a kitchen adventurer and I have some of that, too.
My father taught me to think about all sides of an issue. He wanted me to KNOW WHY I feel the way I feel about some things...and to never be ashamed to change my mind.
I also get a love of reading from him. When I was little, my brothers could walk by and smack me on the head and I still wouldn't take it out of the book. Apparently my father was the same way as a child.
From my mother I learned empathy. She was the one to reach out to people with kindness...and this made her an excellent nurse.
