I guess it depends why you are IMing him? He wanted a lover, but what did you want? That would alter my response, though I'd be tempted to tell him to take a hike!

That's exactly it. He was NEVER forthright with the whole "lovers" thing?

Now he said he's conflicted again...because he's looked at my pictures and is reminded of what I look like.

Gosh, I hate to be a cynic, but perhaps he was being nice for ulterior motives? Heck, I dunno.
The crux of it though, is that you see him in a new light now. Sounds like from your frame of reference he is not the man you had imagined him to be. Whether you think you can get past that...only you really know.
Looking on the bright side, if you had a face that worked for him...well, that's a compliment right. Take that thought away from your brief encounter and use it as a positive.

I doubt you can meet anyone decent on those sites- there are men looking for desperate women with money, men looking to pimp you out, men looking for sex, etc. The internet can be so pathetic, can't it. Its come a long way from when I first heard about it in 1992. My friend, an engineer, was telling me about the internet, it was a new way for people to exchange information. Well, there is a lot of THAT going on too.

I'm sorry, actually my sister met a boyfriend on-line, and was with him for a few years. Why does this happen to me at predictable intervals?

My aunt met her new husband online.

I was just HOPING that if I did Match, I'd find some decent guys in my area.

I talked to one who was really nice and we set up a meeting, but I couldn't go because my grandma got ill and was laid out with influenza B for a month...so I wasn't about to leave her home alone. I think my cancelling the meeting upset him and he found someone else.

Then I started talking to this one. He seems very nice...but #$%@...if you can't meet someone online...where the #$%# are we females supposed to look???
