The Baftas..............

Last night the British Academy held the 2006 Bafta awards at the Leicester Square Odeon. The stars were out in force and in true Brit style it bucketed down with rain and ruined those Jimmy Choos but Ruby Wax saved the day by handing out hot water bottles and hand warmers to the weak and pampered..
Inside Stephen Fry provided a class comentary.....He truely is the best of British and can knock spots of Billy Crystal and Chris Rock any day................
Brokeback Mountain was the runnaway winner, but poor George must have wondered why he bothered coming out on such a miserable night...
The highlight however has to be Lord Putnums acceptance speech for his 'fellowship of the Academy' award...I for one howled my eyeballs out and when the camera panned over the audience you could see that everyone else was crying too......

Roll on the Oscars.........

O yes the Puttman speach had me in floods..so heartfelt....I've always liked him and what he said made me like him even more. I was happy with all the winners apart from Reese Witherspoon...I think Rachel weiss should have got it, I recon Reese will get the Oscar anyway.

Yep, I don't mind admitting there was a tear in my eye too when David Puttman gave his speech! I heard him interviewed on Five Live today as well, and he said if he'd have had more time/forethought he would have liked to use other "film examples" (on top of The Sixth Sense one). The other film he had lined up was Field Of Dreams....which sets me off just thinking about it! Lol.

Anyway, sorry to see George left empty handed, but at least he got a nod from DP in his speech.

yep.........David was very gracious.......a great man in his field and along with Attenborough the Baftas were indeed blessed by the good and the great of Filmaking.....
