Just thinking about it....
What if it was a wool sock and he's allergic to wool, scary, he'd be scratchin' all the time. If you are allergic to something it would give you a little red rash, someone might think it was somethin else.
Now I know why guys scratch all the time if they are allergic to wool long johns. But there is a sollution, just wear something else like the spandex thing unless you're allergic to latex or the underthingy for dive suits, the shiny ones, might work.
