Here is where you discuss everything under the sun, just keep it clean.

Another Poll, this is for the Women on JCO, men can vote too but
it's more geared towards the female opinion.....
Recently a Canadian Politian was possibly referred to as a dog..
she was totally offended, as I would be also.
Many men take it as a compliment to be refered to as a dog.
I believe we have discussed this at JCO before. Not sure if we ever
make any conclusions though.
What about you, how do you feel?

Well when it applies to a bloke it means he's a randy old devil........but when it refers to a woman it means she's ugly..........it's funny how it means different things........ ........

Haha, this kinda has a personal twist for me... You see I recently thought that a person used a dog as a metaphor while referring to me/who I am as a person instead, and I didn't become offended at all. I thought it was pretty cute actually. However I can understand how it can be taken the wrong way. For instance; the person who's gotten the label "dog" can take it that way as the person who said it to her is "the master" over this person, so that she should feel that she's worth less or something, and that she's just a servant and that her opinions doesn't matter.
I think it's sad that people call eachother names and such. I think all people should have equal respect for others. Many of us here as discussed that there's no form for being "normal", so no one can really say that someone else is "crazy" for instance. Well, I think the same goes for the usual name calling "dumb" too. 'Cause let's face it; it's probably the most used insulting word if something is. But are you worth less if you're for instance a cleaner and not a doctor? And if you forget some things; does that make you "dumb"? I don't think so. We should all be judge by who we are as fellow creatures, and not our wisdom and knowledge. 'Cause that's what we are; human beings, and not some robots with computer minds who can remember everything, who will never make any mistakes and who can solve every math problem etc. etc. etc...........

i agree! we're all in this together! we're only human and because of that we make mistakes, why should we be labeled because of them? like i said before, we're all in this together.

Female politician referred to as a dog... hmm, if she's a women (and she obviously is) wouldn't it be right (I mean regarding choice of words not propriety) for her to be called a bitch? (I mean a female dog not well, you know). And that would be pretty insulting I guess.

Absolutely!!! Guybrush Threepwood wrote:And that would be pretty insulting I guess.
Yes, indeed so!! I've just been called "a bitch" by one person in my whole life, a "psychotic bitch" to be exact... And that is extremely insulting and hurtful!! But no, that is just me being easily insulted!

You're lucky to know that the person in question who called you one was just having a really bad day!! The one who called me a "psychotic bitch" was actually someone I let into my life despite some odd things (odd friendships are formed every day as they say). But I'll get over it. Now when the shock of being called one is over I can't help but to think that it wasn't totally uncalled for (eventhough no one really has the right to call someone else that) and that I might actually have appeared like one at times eventhough I'm really not... Hahaha! Sorry I have a sick sense of humour... However it took me a looong time to get over anyway. But something that sure eases the pain of being called one is what Pink said in an English interview from June 2003 (that I read today); " But I've been called every name you can be called. I used to sing in a hip hop club. One week it would be 'You go girl'. The next it would be 'You white bitch, I'm going to kick your ass'. But I don't care". So, if she won't let rude people get to her, then why should I? I love Pink to bits really; and it's so cool that she's a fan of Jim's too!! PINK & Jim; YOU TOTALLY RULE!!!
