What's your feeling about sequels?

I personally love them in theory, but in actuality; they don't compare to the first one. Jim sequels creep me out, they never have him in them.

I think the only movies that should have sequals are the movies that end in cliffhangers or left wide open for the next movie. :)

Some sequels are great. Some aren't, in my opinion. As for Jim Carrey sequels, they all sucked -- unless, of course, he's in them. But anytime anybody else attempts to portray him they **** up the movie. Dull pointless crap.

I am a huge horror film fan, my favourite being Halloween...which has its 9th film currently in production :) I think sequels really do depend on the film and genre. Horror films will always have countless sequels.

I like sequels that are well made and actually open up a bit more of the story...give us a chance to spend another 90 minutes with a character that we all love. Thats why Ace Ventura 2 was awesome. I agree with what you said though....no sequels without the original actor, thats just weird. The Dumb and Dumber prequel would have been soooooo much better with Jim and Jeff as Harry and Lloyd. Infinately better.

However, sequels that are made with the sole purpose of making money are pathetic. What I mean is.....when a studio doesn't have any fresh ideas, they just want to cash in on a recogised name. Even crappy films are getting sequels now, just to make money. Its daft I say!

So, to sum up.... Good films with sequels = good
Every film having a sequels = bad
Horror films having sequels = awesome (yes, I know i'm a hypocrite...because they're bad, but I don't care. lol! )

Sequals without the origional actors are more like whole new films jumping on the great success of old films. I think that Evan Allmighty will be good if Evan has a new job out of the news studio in an office or something.
