Their determination to publicize heinous allegations before there has been a trial or a statement from the accused is sickening to me.

They never come back and say, "We reported last week blah blah blah...and we need to apologize for our report, which was grossly in error." And they have unapologetically aired stories with gross misinformation.

When Jon Benet Ramsey's mother died, I saw the reaction on a number of boards "the truth dies with HER"... "looks like she got what was coming to her." The TRUTH is that all the investigation and clues led the police to believe it was most likely an INTRUDER that killed Jon Benet. So...WHERE was THAT information?

We have to believe people deserve better than that kind of treatment.

Don't you have regulatory watchdogs there??.......The Uk has pretty careful monitoring of the news and if they appear to be biased all hell breaks loose......they have enquiries and will film public apologies and put them out at peak time.................
but we are a wee country so it's easier to control i guess...........

The news gets more depressing every day............whatever happened to the waterskiing Squirrels and skateboarding dogs they used to tag along at the end ???......i miss those.........lol

It could be because the BBC is state run. I have to say here...nope. There doesn't seem to be any shame. John Holliman spoke once at my college. He was CNN's FIRST Gulf War reporter. I asked him point blank, "We are being taught here to maintain balance and never be biased on a story...but I see it happen on TV all the time....s'up?"

He chuckled and said, "Well a recent poll said that 80+% of journalists responded that they are "very liberal"...so that's bound to creep into reporting."

As Americans we trust too much. Often...after a hot story has colled...you research and find out that everything was resolved...or the person wasn't guilty....we shouldn't have to do extracurricular research to find the truth.

I happen to be a big Fox News buff, they have both sides to every story. The Far Left, Far Right, and two inbetween. You be the judge on what truth is. Its fair and basically all things are biased depending upon your views. That call it what they see. Truth can be relative, unfortunately, depends upon your philosphy. i.e. Ten commandments in a courthouse. If your against, then.... If your for it, well..... Now , if all the media is leaning one way, how would you know the difference! Fascinating isn't it. In US, most media is owned by the same three corporations, Fox CNN are cable and not in the mainstream.

I'll never forget the first day of the recent gulf war. I was watching the Today Show. They were broadcasting David Bloom who was riding along in a tank. Lauer asks "Where are you NOW?" Bloom replies, "I cannot give out any logistical information...that's the agreement between the media and the troops." So Lauer...points to a map of Iraq and says, "Well...you crossed the border at ____ this morning...and you're travelling about 40 miles an hour...so that puts you right about here."
Bloom again, "Matt...I can't talk about that."

I wanted to jump into my TV and throttle Matt Lauer.

geez............you'd think they'd have arrested him........that's surely got to be compromising national security .......
After 9/11 the BBC did a crazy set of programmes where they simulated terrorist and disaster scenarios and got all the chiefs of operations to tell everyone what they'd do......... but in doing so they also revealed the weak points and basically told the nation how to make a bloomin good job of a terrorist attack...........it was ludicrous.............and no, nothing happened here either..............
