Hannibal Lecter

What an awesome character. Thomas Harris is brilliant. But then again, he covered crime in Mexio and the States, so he was accustomed to all of this madness. Did anybody here like "The Silence of the Lambs," "Hannibal," or "Red Dragon?" I loved them all. Now there's a new movie coming out called "Behind the Mask." It shows why Hannibal Lecter is as weird as he is. Should be good. Even though, normally I hate prequels.

I look forward to "Behind the mask". I want to read the book when it comes out here in Sweden. And I am sure that "Behind the mask" not will disapoint me. I really liked "Red Dragon" who also is a prequel. And the other two movies is really great too.

Yes. I loved it, even though I thought the guy who played Lecter was inferior to Hopkins. But the actor who played Will Graham and the one who played Dolarhyde were excellent. The ending was even different than the Red Dragon's.

In the Hannibal book, while Lecter's on a plane and day dreaming, it mentions, very briefly about what happened to Lecter's parents and sister, Mischa.

I saw 'Manhunter', but I liked Anthony Hopkins a lot more as Hannibal Lecter. And I liked 'Red Dragon' more then 'Manhunter'. Also looking forward to 'Young Hannibal, Behind the Mask' from director Peter Webber. (Six Feet Under, Girl with the Pearl Earring) But I'm also a bit afraid about Gaspard Ulliel (Un long dimanche de Fiançailles, Paris je t'aime) for the part. Not because he ain't a good actor, but because of the fact his English doesn't sound that good. And one of the great things about Hopkins is that scary voice and the way he talks.

I'm not familiar at all with Gaspard. I first heard about him when I was reading about this on IMDB. They should have at least got Hopkins to narrate "Behind The Mask." I'm my opinion it would make the movie more real. I did search Gaspard (via Internet) and thought he looked a great deal like I imagined a younger Lecter. But I've never heard him speak.

I only heard him speak French, so I don't exactly know about his English, but when you look at people like Audrey Tautou, Jean Reno and others, I think you always hear they are French. Not? So I'm a bit worried about that.

Look at these spookie peepers: http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/yh1.jpg

I just remembered that this guy's like 5'10 (according to imdb). We all know that in the book and movie Hannibal's short. This kid's pretty tall, or at least a normal height. But in my opinion he seems a hell of a lot better than Macaulay Culkin as Lecter. Years ago, Hopkins was working on his own script for a sequel to Hannibal but I haven't heard anything else about it.

I think Hopkins is probably my favorite actor. It's funny how he can go from somebody like Charles in "The Edge" to Hannibal. A few days ago, I was in the 99 cent store and they were selling a DVD with Hopkins that I've never seen "Guilty Conscience." It was really good. I bought it with low expectations and ended up loving the damn thing.

It was Brian Cox who played the original Hannibal. I thought he did a good job. But then I'm not much of an Anthony Hopkins fan I'm afraid. Someone has to tow the opposite line. Lol.
