Don't you think it's kind of counterproductive to say you MUST wear the bracelet on the left wrist?

That wasn't directed at you....

I mean....it's supposed to be this peaceful religion...and does it really matter what hand you wear it on.

Well in Hindu religion the married girls wear red string on their right hand & unmarried girls on their left hand. The boys always wear it on their left hand. I also dont know the real reason why but i guess its just a custom.
But i do know about why marriage ring is worn on the left hand finger is coz the nerve of that finger is directly connected to the heart.

In Germany and Chile and in some parts of Spain people wear their marriage ring on the right hand though... don't know why...! Do you know Jimliker?

I went to my first Yoga & Meditation class last night!

I really enjoyed it, but my wrists are killing me this morning. I don't think I've ever tried to twist my arms round like that whilst keeping my hands still on the floor. :?

But it was fun and I felt much better at the end of the class. And this is just week one. :D

I can't mediate. To mediate properly, if what I've read is correct, you need to have absolutely no drugs in your system--and I have plenty. And no. I'm not doing any illegal. Actually, it's quite legal. My shrink has provided me with various pills: pills for OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder,) Xanax for anxiety & finally Zoloft for depression.

And to top it off, to make matters worse, I drink and smoke. When my girlfriend left me, I attempted suicide and unsuccessfully didn't manage to bleed right when I tried to slit my wrists. You know that you're a loser, you know that you're beyond reason, when you attempt suicide and fail.

So what were we talking about again? Oh yeah, Meditation. For me, it doesn't do shit. But we're all different.

Twigggy

I know this must sound cliche, but I hope you can find peace and happiness in your life. Take things one baby step at a time, and try to fill your life with things that make you happy.

It's almost like stripping yourself bare and starting from scratch.

I, for one, am glad your attempt failed. Take that as a sign that Someone Up There doesn't feel it's time for you to go yet. Get yourself healthy. Start with that. And then talk to someone you trust to help you make sense of it all.

Good luck.

By the way, I'm still having problems meditating too! I've got wayyy too many issues in my life for me to focus. But I'm going to keep trying!
The truth shall set you free.

Thanks. It's always pleasant to hear a few words of encouragement now and then. And you're right about starting from scratch, you really are. I've changed so drastically within the past few months. I can't even believe it. Despite being a loner, I did--do--have a pretty bad drug problem. It's not as bad now. Not like then. I abused Xanax and Valium.
My shrink told me to only take Xanax "When necessary." Well, for me, necessary was far too often. Sometimes I'd take 10 a night and then chase it with beer and whiskey and pot and Nyquil. Shit. Now that's a junkie.

After experimenting with many drugs, I came to the realization that they're not all evil like the bullshit you hear on tv. At least not for me. The thing is, when you start using a new drug, even when is prescribed, research it. I'd say out of all the drugs I've encountered Xanax is by far the worst and quitting cold turkey could lead to suicide....

Damn Twiggy, you've been through hell. . . luckily someone provided you with a round-trip ticket. I know what you're going through is probably the hardest stuff in the world to deal with . . . but I pray that you will get better and not have to rely on any substance to bring happiness to your life. It can and has been done. I wish you all the best.
