Anyone else out there a crusader...!?I'm getting more and more involved in an effort to help someone that has backfired....has anyone else ever stood up for someone or something against tremendous odds and actually had it turn out WELL...?!
Yes. In High School after graduation, there were about 6 families that put together and paid for an "after party". Invitations went out...but some people didn't get them. It was the "geekier" kids in school...but I thought it was hurtful. I told a couple of friends (whose parents were sponsoring it)...that I was NOT going to go if everyone wasn't invited...and further, threatened to throw a different after party.

Four years ago I tried to stand up for a co-worker who had been bullied and abused by her 'boss' for months before I even got there. I was witness to another verbal attack and went to my boss to defend my co-worker. The attacker in question enlisted the help of another peer (to conspire in a lie, of course) in order to save herself, and I got fired because I had no witness. Guess I won't do that again anytime soon...!
Four years ago? I was probably in the same situation. People can be unbelievable, can't they? "When in doubt, tell the truth."

agreed....because the ones who are truly beguiling make you wonder if they'll ever get found out. i'm trying to follow advice like fluffy's though: believe in karma, rise above it when you can, and when in doubt (after telling the truth) squash them like a bug - but do it publicly so you have witnesses....!
I feel for you in your struggle to 'do the right thing'. I too, have tried to rally behind what I believed to be the right thing. The struggle was full of tears, loss, financially I went bankrupt in the process. In hindsight, I know in my heart I did what I had to do. Money isn't always everything. Prime example Jesus healing on Sundays (He was breaking the Pharisee's laws of the Sabbath) incarcerated and so.... what have we learned here. A blind man could see, a crippled man could walk and he was in prison. So... there it is.
One time I flew from Antwerp airport in Belgium to Gatwick in England, I think it was...anyway, as an American I couldn't get in the fast EEC line (European Economic Community). I had to get in the "Overseas" line. At the time I lined up, a big plane from Africa had already landed and the line to get to customs was, probably 60 long. I was stunned as the airport official came down the line and directed white passengers (on the SAME plane) to get to the front of the line. When he got to me I said, "No." He told me again I could go to the front and again I ssid, "No I'll wait MY turn." Boy did they ever hassle me when I finally got to the front of the line. They acted like the Waffen SS. I was lucky to have escaped without a cavity search. And I had an "Official" passport.

quirky, i'm not sure but were they trying to isolate you or give you favorable treatment and you refused it....?! I'm not much of a world traveler so I don't know.....sounds kind of scary though.
wonderbunny, your "going bankrupt" definitely hits a chord with me. lately I've been trying to help someone financially and legally, and it turned sour in a big way....at least I'll be able to walk away financially intact, if they don't try to sue me....!!
