"The Incredible Mr. Limpet" shooting location
09 Nov 1998

We received this smokin' bit from Lisa Bradberry, regarding the location of Jim Carrey's upcoming movie, "The Incredible Mr. Limpet". Spank you very much, Lisa! ----

Hi.

My name is Lisa, and I stumbled onto your web site looking for Jim Carrey news about Mr. Limpet because some of it is scheduled to be filmed in Florida.

I thought you might like to see what a local paper said about Mr. Limpet being partially filmed in Florida. It reads as follows:

CEDAR KEY -- When Jim Carrey comes to town to film "The Incredible Mr. Limpet", he'll be even more animated than usual: For half of the movie, he's a cartoon fish.

Scouts from Warner Bros. studios "specifically said they were looking for a unique fishing village that could be seen from the water," said Judith Hagin, film commissioner for Ocala and Marion County. "And you can't get any more unique than Cedar Key."

Ms. Hagin, who handled negotiations for the tiny Gulf Coast community, said Cedar Key was a big hit with producer Norman Jewison and director Steve Oedekerk. "They were quite taken with the fact that it had never been seen on film before," she said.

The animated segments are already in production in California. Carrey and his supporting cast, none of whom has been named, will spend a month filming in Cedar Key early next year.

JCO also wants to thank Joshua Calvert, who sent us an encore on this story, right from the beautiful town of Cedar Key. Spank you too, Joshua!

I live in cedar key florida and for those of you who dont know that is the site of his next movie. the town only has 700 people in it and everyone is going crazy, he is supposed to be here in jan. for a couple months I cant wait to meet him im definatly a fan i have all his movies and i was class clown and best personality, i would love to get a spot. Editor's Note: Cedar Key is located 50 miles southeast of Gainesville. During the mid-1800s the surrounding forests were a major provider of cedar for pencils. Some fishermen still currently reside in the village though it has mostly become homestead to an artist community.
