Verizon Super Bowl "The Cable Guy" Ad
14 Feb 2022 By Eva Araújo (Web correspondent)
Most you may not remember the movie "The Cable Guy". The movie had mix reviews at the time when it was release in 1996, not to mention he was well known that Jim received the biggest pay at the time for an actor for a movie 20 million dollars.
But the movie was a dark comedy satire to TV. In it Jim plays a cable installer who gets obsessed with a guy after installing his cable tv.
The character that Jim played 25 years ago, has come back now, for a Verizon Ad.
Many of you may not know, but Jim has never done any ads. So, starting out with one, not only bringing an old character back to life but also premiering it at the super Bowl, is iconic, at best.
The ad starts with the Cable Guy wearing his blue jumpsuit, knocking on someone's door to installed cable. But the lady who answers completely dismissed him by saying she has "Verizon 5G Internet". He has a hard time believing she can have internet without miles of cable but she confirms it and then he ask to see it. She let him inside the house where he see the white cube rooter.
The Cable guy analyses it and keep asking a lot of question that she answer quickly, dismissing him completely. At the end he seems convinced and says he will return to check it again the following day. The lady tells him no, but he pretends not to be hearing it and leave the house, knocking on the next apartment door, yelling: "Caaaable Guy!"
