Jim Carrey At The 16th Annual Backstage at the Geffen Event
22 May 2018 By Eva Araújo (Web correspondent)
Every year the Geffen Playhouse hosts “A benefit to bring inspiration, hope and healing through the arts to the most underserved of our community”.
This year they honored Dick Van Dyke and Lin-Manuel Miranda and many celebrities went to pay tribute to them and to many more.
The actress Aisha Tyler was the host of the event and she shared a few pictures, including of our Jim Carrey:
Jim Carrey presented the Distinction in Theater Award to Van Dyke. Jim Carrey galloped onto the stage on a make-believe horse for his tribute to Van Dyke. Confirming Van Dyke’s place in comedy history, he said, “He’s right up there with Keaton and Chaplin and – cough – Jim Carrey.” He asked the audience to close its eyes as he said Van Dyke’s name, saying “When you say someone’s name and it puts a smile on your face and opens up the light in your heart, that’s the ultimate test." Accepting the award for Distinction in Theater, Dick Van Dyke, at 92-years-old, joked about his early days as a comedian – “I was Jim Carrey.”
There also a short video that shows Jim singing one of the songs from “Marry Poppins” called “Let’s fly a kite” along with other guests.
We are very excited to see him looking so damn good.
We at JCO will keep you updated as more news come.
