Me, Myself & ... Phish
27 Apr 2000

by Ben

Hey there-

I suppose my disclaimer should be that two of my greatest loves are Jim Carrey and the band Phish. One day early last summer, I checked a Phish website to see the setlists from their tour up to that point. I was absolutely shocked to see the setlist from a private "warmup" party that took place a few days before the tour started.

The members of Phish are from Burlington, VT, and as you know, Me Myself & Irene was filmed there. Well, the audience at this party consisted of none other than the cast and crew of MMI! Now here was the real kicker: Jim Carrey sat in on vocals for a couple songs. That I couldn't believe--it was similar to the feeling I had when I found out Jim Carrey, my favorite current comedian, would be playing Andy Kaufman, my favorite comedian of all time. Anyway, here's the complete setlist from that night:

06-24-99 Trey Anastasio's Barn, near Burlington, VT
Set 1: Farmhouse, The Moma Dance, Hey You*#, The Meatstick > Come Together*
Set 2: Get Back on the Train, Windora Bug, Dirt, Twist > Jam, Bug, I Saw It Again, Rock-A-William

"The Fifth Ball," or, "Carreystock" (party with cast and crew of Jim Carrey movie filming in the area). *With Jim Carrey on vocals. #by Bachman Turner Overdrive.

Incidentally, Trey Anastasio (the lead guitarist/vocalist) played the song Windora Bug on his solo tour last May, but Phish never played it at a *public* concert--despite the fact that many fans, including me, would LOVE them to. So that means Jim Carrey has seen this song live, but I haven't. :-)

Anyway, I'm not sure if you were ever aware of this or what...but I thought it might fit nicely on the FAQ section or something. Enjoy...
