By Priya Baboota (Web correspondent)

Jim Carrey came as guest to promote his movie "The Truman Show", on The Oprah Winfrey Show in the year 1998. Oprah told the story how Jim called her after midnight and asked her to come down to the hotel bar; otherwise he would come to her room. When Oprah sat down with him at the bar, he kept ordering expensive champagne bottles and he paid for it. When Jim was about to sit on the couch he threw flowers to the audience.

At the beginning of the interview Oprah asked Jim about what he did after "Liar Liar" as he took 10 months vacation which was the first time he took such a long time off. Oprah asked about his hair which was all grown which he said was for a future project, the story of Jesus sarcastically, but in reality, for the part of Andy Kaufman.

Oprah defined "The Truman Show" movie as fascinating. She asked whether he feels being watched, to which he explained that he has cameras running on himself all the time. He might show Jim toilet time someday to everyone!

Oprah asked Jim whether he learned anything wonderful about himself. Jim replied that he learned that he is a very hasty person in making decisions and how important relationships are to people. He was especially talking about only romantic ones.

Oprah also asked what's going on as he showed up at the LA premiere of "The Truman Show" with his ex wife Lauren Holly. Jim replied that they are hanging out and having fun. Then he asked her: Hey, how you and Stedman (her boyfriend) doing?

Oprah asked about his co-star Ed Harris in the movie to which Jim replied that he is an amazing and intense actor. He also thinks that water is intense.

Jim said that he is a dysfunctional man. His teacher gave him 15 minutes at the end of the day to perform in the class. He used to think which teacher he will impersonate everyday. He called himself a poisonous mushroom when he saw his childhood picture.

He also told that he was booed of the stage, started fights, said painful things and did not crave for acceptance much. He was not afraid to try new things.

He was more interested and challenged by "The Truman Show" movie. He isn't giving up comedy either.

He also told that he sent resume telling about 80 impressions to Carol Brunett Show. He got a letter from her secretary which was more than enough. He impersonated about 100 people when he was 15 years old. He did those impressions by looking in the mirror. He was constantly in competition with his father. Rodney Dangerfield also loved his father very much. Jim's favourite was Jimmy Stewart impression. He also did Bruce Durt and Allen Thick impression for Oprah.

Jim said that he dropped out of school and he was a horrible example of success. He had to work at a 8 hour factory shift. He got education on the street and by meeting people.

Jim Carrey was asked why he wore a fig leaf at VH1 Fashion Awards. He told Oprah that he needed to do something different. After that show, people were running for fig leaf all over New York, especially big ones!

Jim also told Oprah that he isn't completely ok with himself to find true love. He also said jokingly that she was poorer than him. He also told her that money has nothing to do with finding love. He believes people when they tell him they love him.

At the end of the interview there was a clip with a story from Jeff Daniels. He said that Jim is certifiable. He will do anything for a laugh for which he needs therapy. He gave Jim his tongue which was used in "Dumb & Dumber" movie as a gift.

Jim told Oprah that when he was doing "The Truman Show", the director didn't have tough time with him. His life is pretty cool and he might be doing "Incredible Mr. Limpet" and "Man on The Moon". He auditioned for "Man on the Moon" and made up a video tape of him impersonating Andy Kaufman.
