Larry Charles Directing Jim Carrey in "Pierre Pierre"
20 Jul 2010

By Tommy Pihl (JCO Editor-In-Chief)

This could be interesting, Mike Fleming from Deadline.com reports today that Larry Charles (Brüno, Borat and many episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm) has signed to direct Jim Carrey in the comedy "Pierre Pierre". Jim will play a flamboyant French nihilist who has the job of transporting a stolen 'Mona Lisa' and in the process falls back in love with France.

When we first heard about this project in 2008 Juno's Jason Reitman was attached to direct from a script by Edwin Cannistraci and Frederick Seton at Fox Atomic. The film fell into turnaround after Reitman dropped out and Fox Atomic went went kaput.

The site says that the comedy will be shopped again by its producers, Escape Artists' Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch, and Category 5's Brian Sher. The film is now currently looking to be made with a budget of just over $20 million. Check back for updates on this new project.
