Limpet gets Smart
25 Jun 1999

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is waiting for Jim Carrey's decision on whether he is still interested in starring in "The Incredible Mr. Limpet" remake. When Steve Oedekerk, the originally assigned director, tempestuously exited from the project, Carrey stated he would decide after reading the reworked version of the script done by Rita Hsaio ("Mulan" writer.)

If Jim Carrey passes, the film's producers (Barry Levinson, Paula Weinstein and Bill Gerber) and the studio may offer the part to either Mike Myers or Robin Williams.

Still according to the newspaper, there is also a chance that Jim Carrey will instead choose to star in the big screen adaptation of the 60's TV series "Get Smart."

Rob Reiner is currently in talks to direct the movie for Warner Bros. based on a Nick Marine script titled "Spyville."
