New book: Mother Warriors
03 Oct 2008

By Nicola West (Editor/Writer (UK))

Recently Jim Carrey's partner, Jenny McCarthy published 'Mother Warriors', the follow up to 'Louder than Words', her Times #3 bestseller of the story of her efforts to rescue her son Evan from autism. An overwhelming sucess, 'Louder than Words' re-opened the Autism debate and gave hope to many, as she recounted her harrowing tale of despair and recovery.

Her involvement with Talk About Curing Autism (TACA) and Generation Rescue saw her profile as an activist escalate and a huge USA tour saw her giving talks to over 60,000 affected by autism. The response was immense and as parents shared their stories, Jenny was compelled to share their tales of strength and determination. 'Mother Warriors' was the result.

Beginning with her own harrowing tale, Jenny explains the fight to pull Evan through the 'Autism Window' using a mixture of trial and error interventions. A firm believer in bio-medical therapy she discusses how she navigated her way through the many autism therapies and the effects they had. Along the way her marriage failed and her new love Jim Carrey witnessed her struggles.

Impassioned by her story, Jim Carrey wrote a chapter full of love and positivity and he has since joined her on the board of Generation Rescue. The second half of the book is dedicated to fellow 'Mother (and father) Warriors'. Their stories are all harrowing and sometimes heartbreaking but all with the common theme, never give up hope!

With a USA Autism rate of 1:150 and an even more shocking UK rate of 1:60, it's 'Game On' in the fight to understand Autism.

'Mother Warriors: A Nation of Parents Healing Autism Against All Odds ' is now available on Amazon.com and most book retailers now. Order it here.
