It's hard for me to balance my beliefs with the very REAL haunting that happened at my parents' house in Maryland.

3 generations were exposed to it. Unexplainable noises....glass breaking and my dad said it stood by his bed....whatever IT was.

I've seen ghosts on like 3 different occasons.

The first time was whe I was like... six. My dad went to work at like 3 in the morning and atleast 90% of the time I would get woken up before he'd go to work, and I'd go say goodbye to him and get a glass of water, then go back to bed.
There was this night in particular where I heard some disturbances in my kitchen, so by instinct I got up and headed for it.
We had this piano by the entry way to the kitchen, and as I walked threw the hall(noticing that all the lights were out, so I thought it was sort of weird), I looked up and saw this man standing by it in the shadows.
I got this REALLY weird feeling and like instant goosebumps and I realized that it was NOT my dad. I knew it wasn't like a tres passer though or anything... which don't ask me how I didn't know.
I ran into my parents room and told them what I had seen, and they went in there to find nothing, all the doors were locked and everything.

That was the only time I had actually seen something that looked like a person... everything else was like smokey shadowy figures, that whenever I tell anybody about them(except my mom, she was with me on one of the happenings) they pretty much laugh in my face.

I'm like obsessed with the paranormal and supernatural stuff and crap like that... it fascinates me, because I've grown up with weird stuff going on like my whole life, so yea.

I won't laugh in ur face! :D I know that that kinda stuff happens....and i think i would crap my pants if it happened to me. I do have one question though: How is it instinct to walk towards the disturbance?? My first thought would be "I'm gettin' the hell out of here!!!!!!!!!!"

If I had known to begin with my dad wasn't in there, I wouldn't have walked closer towards it. Once I figured out that it wasn't him, I ran. LOL. I do like that kind of stuff though so I always get soooo excited when crap like that happens.

Last year I stayed in a place that I reckon was 'possessed' I heard voices of people I knew and that has never happened before or after I stayed there. It was unmistakable. But I was not of much use to them cuz I never passed any messages to the one it was meant for. Bad girl.
So, do I believe in spirits? Yes, there are many. And I respect them from far. But I would rather be with god, in a loving peaceful place. That's the thought I want to reinforce and have prevail.

Oooo i put up with supernatural stuff all the time my dad is a spiritualist medium and so was my mum. so half the time my dad will say to me there was someone there ya know... and after my grandad passed away me and my mum could alwayz smell strong tabaco like when he was around. I still do on the odd ocasions and i playfully say helo grandad lol. I also get smells of what my mum smelled like too.. so i know there around me all the time. its a nice feeling. I think though if i saw them stand in front of me i would crap my pants lol but i wouldnt run away i think i would be sort of calm because id recognise them. I have seen unexplainable shadows though in my room... one night i was half asleep and there was a shadow at the end of my bed and i remember turning and seeing it and sayin "not now" and rolling over and going back to sleep lol! no idea why i did it lol.... also ive seen a so called ufo lol.. it was a wierd light circleing in the sky nothing like id ever seen. my dad and bro saw it too. :D

MandyCarrey...I did the "not now" thing too...you are the first person I've ever met that has said that. Once we were up in the mountains in Modoc county, way up in northern california, I was sitting at a campfire with friends, and of course there were no cities or any large lights for a very long ways, we were up by the glacier. A large, very bright, very large white light appeared at the horizon...and started floating towards us...it took up about one quarter of the horizon...I said in my mind "not now" and they said "ok", and it started to go away. I specifically got the impression they were asking me if I were ready for this experience, and I said no. I asked my friends the next day, and they said yes, they had seen it too. After it happened everyone just had left the campfire without speaking.

Wow, I am both impressed and amazed at the experiences posted here.

I don't think I've ever seen anything, but I have had a few experiences if you like. I once stayed in a hotel where weird stuff would happen in our room (I'd turn the lamps off and they'd come back on...) and was later told the room was haunted. I suspect if they'd told me that beforehand I might have taken another room.
I lived in a pub once and that was haunted. Apparently. But stuff would move and the gas taps would get turned off so tight you'd hurt your hand trying to get them back on, etc, etc.

Then lately I've been smelling stuff associated with my recently deceased Grandad. Don't know if that's my mind though. Could be.

None of it's that scary....it's just intriguing. Like you're standing on the edge of something looking in, but you really don't understand what it is you're seeing. Hmm. I always have the belief people are around us, deceased spirits if you like. I don't see them but I always imagine my late relatives know what is happening in my life now.....
Everybody should believe in something.
I believe I'll have another coffee!
