Sure! Can you please change choice (d) to "I can't travel to the above places, but would participate in an online chat"? (or online "webcast" or whatever it is that we're calling it?) That would be great, thanks! I just want to make sure that people don't have to make a choice between meeting in person OR doing an online chat… if a person thinks that there's any chance they could participate in both events, I still think it would be good to know their preference for where the gathering would be held. Of course, everybody would prefer their own hometown, lol… but for now, until someone steps forward with another idea for a location, I've just listed 3. By all means, if someone wants to organize a JCO meeting in their own hometown... post your ideas here!! :) We're listening......

I think id be great to organise an online chat if posible because it would be hell of a lot easier for people who really dont have money to travel and what not. me being in the uk it would certianly be difficult to attend something like this (if it was organised) in canada or something... id love to go to l.a or canada someday but when im working and im older... :D ...... if a live chat was organised how would people around the world know what time to log on or watever becuase of the time difference will someone organise this if this goes ahead? (that maybe a stupid question but im all confused when it comes to time differences across the world  )

Well, I just found a website called timezoneconverter.com, so people could use something like that to figure out what time to log on. If Jim was involved, I think it goes without saying that he'd get to pick what time it started. If we wanted to do a test-run before inviting Jim (to test whatever technology we're using), we could do that anytime, I guess. The chatroom on the main site (Java/IRC) hasn't loaded properly since I joined JCO... can it be fixed or replaced with something that works?

As for web cams and the like, I know nothing. But truthfully, at this point, I'm happy enough not to own one. I don't know why, but I think I'd be more shy using a webcam than I would be meeting in person. I'm more comfortable typing on the internet than talking most of the time. I would definitely like to see Jim on a web cam though... absolutely... and anyone else who has one, sure... not me, though... bawk, bawk...

It's not that this isn't a good idea....but let me tell you the experience I had with someone in the biz who posted on the website about his show.

I had posted on the Trading Spaces bb (show on The Learning Channel) for quite awhile. One night I saw an episode of "What Not to Wear". The guy on the show at the time (Wayne Scot Lukas), absolutely INSULTED the midwest while advising someone from Iowa. You have to ditch the HICK look.

I posted on the website. WSL had been wearing a camouflage puffy jacket while advising this woman that she needed to ditch the Iowa and look towards New York.

He didn't take it kindly when I posted and said he had very little room to talk, since he was dressed like military marshmallow man.

Well....he sent a response that stunned about, oh, everyone on the board...He threatened me...saying that he could ruin my Jeopardy appearance, that he KNEW people. I was @#$% scared.

Sorry to hear about the threat. That really sucks. :(

I haven't seen transcripts of any of Jim's chats, but if they are anything like his interviews, then I'm sure we would be in for a real treat (if this ever happens.) [-o<

This question may be foolish. Does it make not difference if it's a JCO chat or an AOL chat? What is the difference ? Can anyone in the world with an internet connection join in for one ?

BTW Kaat - Jim has 2 stars on the Canada Walk of Fame in TO. Which one would be part of our pilgrimage?

I always wondered why he has two. One signed, one not signed. I know the presentation ceremony he attended in 04 was outside Hummingbird but whats with the other one?

And why doesnt he have a star on the walk of fame in Hollywood? (or does he?) If Ryan Seacrest of all people could get one....

I don't know about AOL. I only participated in one celebrity chat before, and it wasn't AOL. In fact, it was so long ago that I was using an IBM 286... now that's a long time ago! But for a JCO chat, JCO could decide whether or not to allow non-members to join the chat. I'd much prefer a members-only chat, myself...

Jim must have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame… it would be insane if he didn't! But two stars on Canada's Walk of Fame? I didn't know that. Weird! Oh well, what the heck, he deserves them both... he deserves a whole block! In fact, they should name a street after him... and then he could come for the unveiling ceremony, lol... but I digress! Since you asked, I think the Toronto pilgrimage, if it ever happens, should definitely include both stars (though extra time should be allotted at the signed one to admire Jim's oh-so-fine penmanship...) ;)

Done! Both Toronto stars it is then!!

Kaat (or anyone else in TO) - in case you're walking down that way sometime, the other star is on King St west, heading toward John st, on the right hand side of the street in front of that white Antique store (or whatever it is). Slipped on it a few times on icy days. Felt like Jimmy was playing at his trickster best...

A Toronto pilgrimage is a good idea. I kind of did my own when i lived there for a year. I tried to see as many of the JC landmarks as I could but I just didnt have the resources or the money to do everything.

I once took a loooong bus ride all the way north to Newmarket - just to be able to say I was there! Mind you, I didnt see much. Got off the bus, spent 20 mins in the bus station and got right back on the last bus going back to downtown. Needless to say the bus driver (same one there and back) looked at me a bit strangely. The things we do, eh?

Walked past Walmer St (where he and his family lived in TO) a million times.

Wanted to find the old place where the Titan Factory house once was, but there was just no info I could find.

The old original Yuk Yuks is not there (although I believe the Church St Community Centre where YY's was is still kind of operating).

Where else would be add on our pilgrimage list? Anyone been to/found any other interesting places?

Maybe cause they gave him the star in 1998 but he wasn't able to attend the ceremony until 2004.

We could take a 45 minute tour outside of Toronto to Burlington and I could show you the townhouse he and his family lived and the High School he attended.

Oh and the club he appeared at - Cafe on the Park is in Toronto too. :D
Imagine.....

Awesome, Laura!!! Sign me up... :)

Something I thought of that might also be cool (probably just a dream, but cool) would be to visit the classroom where his favorite teacher (Lucy Dervaitis?) let him perform regularly in front of the class as a reward for not disrupting the other students. What grade was he in then? Was that elementary school? Hey, maybe we can invite Ms. D. to join the tour, lol... I wanna hear some stories about young Jim when he was being a naughty boy... on the other hand, she might think we were nuts, lol... ;)
