Looks like Jim is right.........

Drinking large amounts of coffee could increase the risk of a heart attack for people with a particular form of a gene, researchers have found.

A study of 4,028 people in Costa Rica revealed that those genetically predisposed to be slow at breaking down caffeine were 64 per cent more likely to suffer cardiac arrest if they drank four or more cups of coffee a day.
The research, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, also found that younger coffee drinkers faced higher risks.

Slow caffeine metabolisers aged under 50 who drank coffee were up to four times more likely to have a heart attack than young slow metabolisers who drank little or no coffee.

i like coffee!!!!!!!!!!!!.........

fluffy :D

The study looked at 2,014 men and women who had had a non-fatal heart attack between 1994 and 2004 and a control group of 2,014 healthy men and women.

...but there are studies showing that it's beneficial, too.

I think it combats Alzheimers or something.

Every morning I play, "beat the medication". By having enough coffee that I don't sack out on the sofa.

I've been trying to cut down, but I think I'm worse with diet soda- it must be the caffeine. I am somehow addicted to the burn of the bubbles, its a fun drink for me. Coffee, feels good first thing in the morning, and on my long latenight night drives (creamy latte  ) it sooths me (artificially) I think its one of those 'habits' you do because everyone does.... hmm  But in reality the caffeine turn up and heightens the nerves, so later I feel pretty icky. I'll have to muse on that one.... :?

yeah... some doctors say that small quantities of certain foods are beneficial to health -- coffee, chocolate, nuts, red wine -- so moderation is key!

I agree with you about one cup verses a pot of coffee...
As of very recently I am totally eliminating coffee. I can't even drink one cup, although I'm an unusual case, because it was still effecting my nerves days later. I got a lot done, but then felt it later. I'm more sensitive to it than most.

Small quantities of coffee are not bad for you.

I do not drink plain coffee... it makes me hypertense... so I mix little coffee and lots of milk or cream... I love coffee with milk or as some would call it "cafe au lait"... I love cappuccino, and espresso with cream... ummmm delicious!

When I was having to drive from 3 hours away to see my doctor I tried one of those french vanilla cappucinos and it was fantastic!

I have a bad prostrate, so I can't ever drink coffee or I'm pissing all day. It gets me extremely nervous also. If drank a cup it would keep me up all day, that's why I prefer downers like Green Tea and beer. Hell, even the caffeine in one coke gets me worked up and my heart racing.
