Is Jim Carrey's welcome running out?

Postby Carreylover » Thu Jun 27, 2002 4:00 pm

I read an article that was back in January and it was saying since he has been sinking at the box office lately and not getting that GG nomination does that mean he is yesterdays news? I hope not! The guy was like saying if he keeps doing drama then maybe he might lose his fans and they will give attention to someone who "deserves" it like Jack Black. Whatever! I wonder if all of his future movies are going to be box office poison for now on….I hope not!

I definitely think that Jim Carrey is not running out. My guess is that he's just laying low for a while. Someday, when the Academy finally realizes that he's an outstanding actor in every way and not just concerning comedy, he will certainly win an Oscar. Jim Carrey has still something very special hidden away and when he strikes again it will be all the way!!!

Mojca

running out?

Postby Pressamarita » Fri Jun 28, 2002 3:20 am

its late night again for silliness. who put that Michael(That's crazy man ) Jackson picture on my thing?

If Jim is running out, he's coming straight to my ( I can't
say house, or apartment or car) spot, or to me.I cannot elaborate except to say maybe a tent somewhere in good humor. I would want him if he was a washed up,
rehabiliting mess, I just cannot deal with him on his way out. Even broke, I 'd take him, I know a man here in ct
who is like King Henry the eighth he has been millions
and zilch so many times. As long as Jim has teeth,
that is the only (OH MY GOD!) and is a Decent Blanker
the hell with hollywood.

I never said that Jim "needs" an oscar. I personally don't think so. If you ask me I think that he doesn't have to prove anithing at all. He is a magnificant actor and artist and he's so good in everything that he does. All I ment to say was that the Academy should see that too and if they don't then, well...you know what I mean...and I also heard Jim Carrey say in so many words that someday he would love to get an Oscar, I mean he didn's say it out straight but it's in there.

Mojca

well I didn't mean that you said he "needed" one, I was just saying it. I know what you mean and I know that in some way he'd like one, but I was just commenting on the fact that he doesn't need one to prove he's a good actor, not trying to start anything here!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
J.T. I think Jim's just going through the normal ups and downs that anyone in his profession goes through. No one is the #1 most popular actor all the time.

FYI -- here's a couple of links to reviews of the Majestic DVD that certainly don't think that his welcome is running out:

www.dvdreview.com/fullrev...stic.shtml

www.dvdspotlight.com/movi...sp?ID=1292

www.dvdmoviecentral.com/R...jestic.htm

runningout?

Postby Pressamarita » Fri Jun 28, 2002 9:24 pm

I wish him the best daily. Whether he's an academy award or not , But I understand thirst, Its
usually for excellence and reaching a point within not the award. I would think he would
obsess a little with economics and fluxuation in figures at the box office. But, Take for instance
spider man, nothing else contending wioth summer. When Jim gets put in the box office , its up against christmas presents so multiply if there weren't would he be at 253 million on the third week.
He could. Then, everyone makes waves about thirty mil for majestic. Not only did I think that it was a
miracle due to our depressed america from bombing, but again he takes his chances at christmas.
People weren't spending last christmas, it had a;lmost nothing to do with the movie, except that he
tried a different twist in acting. Transition. One compliment I would like to pay. His looks have changed. He still has screen grace. Some actors, one in particular I am thinking of,never grow out of
the mentality people percieve them as. His age has become a friend to a new era for him, I believe.
He seems to catch quite abit of hell for the smallest things. those investors who all caught his one- hundred million dollar waves wouldn't be able to do the job with out him. He really does go up against tide at times.Sorry if I was abrasive above, I just don't want him cracking from pressure, love isn't the copout to acting, its just there.
