Re: upcoming moviesOn Coming Attractions, Jim is rumored to be the #1 choice to play Braniac for that "Superman" movie (and so is David Duchovny for Superman ). I don't think Jim would want to take the role as a super-villain again. We already like him as the Riddler

*TaKe KaRe NoW |

| BuH ~ BYe THeN*

Re: upcoming moviesThat Superman movie has been in development hell for at least two years (I remeber when Nicholas Cage was supposed to be the top choice to play Superman).

I thought that the rumor attacing Jim to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was a cool idea. I loved the book, and I can definitely see Jim in it. Of course, since the author of the book recently died, that movie may be stuck in limbo for a long time too.

Re: upcoming moviesYeah, Superman has been in talks for awhile. I was really hoping he would do it because I heard that when it did happen or I should say if it did happen they were supposed to film a lot of it here in my hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. But that was when they were supposed to get Nick Cage. It was in all the papers here and everything. They were saying Jim was rumored to be in it too and I was so excited because I wanted him to come to my town so bad! But that was like 3 or 4 years ago and I haven't heard anything about it since except that they couldn't get the rights or something and Nick was no longer interested. I wish they would have though because I want Jim to come here so badly. I really thought he would since both of his managers are from here. But oh well, whatever Jim decides to do next will be great because I will always love him anyway and he usually makes great decisions about what scripts to take and what scripts not to take. I can't wait to hear what he picks next!

Melanie

Reply to TommyI actually read that in Cinnamon Girl's message, which is 2 messages above mine... It might be that I misunderstood the message... But I want to know a bit more 'bout it too... So Cinnamon Girl... Maybe you can tell us some more?

Re: Reply to TommyI actually read about it right here on JCO's news site back in January. I think I remember seeing something about it on another site too(Corona's Coming Attractions ?).

I love the book -- it has a very unique sense of humor that I wasn't expecting at all. I thought it was just going to be straight sci-fi.

Here's the item from JCO:

Roach wants Carrey for "Hitchhicker's Guide"

According to an interview given by Jay Roach ("Meet The Parents") to Popcorn.co.uk, the director is still very much interested in bringing to the silver screen "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy".
Although arranging studio financing for the costly project is proving to be a difficult task, Roach hasn't given up on the idea, nor has the "Guide"'s author, Douglas Adams. As stated by Jay Roach, Adams is very actively involved, personally doing the movie adaptation and also producing it.

When asked about whom they wanted for the main cast, Roach answered that "We've always thought Jim Carrey would be a good Zaphod and Douglas has always wanted Hugh Laurie for Arthur."

Even if we agree that Jim Carrey would play Zaphod Beeblebrox to perfection, we can't help finding the mental image of a double-headed, three-armed Carrey, somewhat disturbing. ;-)

For the complete quotes by Jay Roach, check Popcorn's website:

www.popcorn.co.uk/news/st...l?id=43529
