STAYIN'ALIVE
Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk,
I'm a woman's man: no time to talk.
Music loud and women warm, I've been kicked around since I was born.
And now it's all right. It's OK. And you may look the other way.
We can try to understand the New York Times' effect on man.
Whether you're a brother or whether you're a mother,

you're stayin' alive, stayin' alive.

Feel the city breakin' and everybody shakin',
and we're stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive, stayin' alive.Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive.
Well now, I get low and I get high, and if I can't get either, I really try.

Got the wings of heaven on my shoes. I'm a dancin' man and I just can't lose.
You know it's all right. It's OK. I'll live to see another day.

Life goin' nowhere. Somebody help me. Somebody help me, yeah.
Life goin' nowhere. Somebody help me. Somebody help me, yeah.
Stayin' alive.

How can a man with long hair and a high pitched voice call himself a womans man???? Maybe he should say "I am a womanly man"

Have you ever bought a compilation CD for just one song??

Dan Fogelberg. I don't know any of his other songs, but I've loved this one since I was wee.

An only child
Alone and wild
A cabinet maker’s son
His hands were meant
For different work
And his heart was known
To none --
He left his home
And went his lone
And solitary way
And he gave to me
A gift I know I never
Can repay

A quiet man of music
Denied a simpler fate
He tried to be a soldier once
But his music wouldn’t wait
He earned his love
Through discipline
A thundering, velvet hand
His gentle means of sculpting souls
Took me years to understand.

The leader of the band is tired
And his eyes are growing old
But his blood runs through
My instrument
And his song is in my soul --
My life has been a poor attempt
To imitate the man
I’m just a living legacy
To the leader of the band.

My brothers’ lives were
Different
For they heard another call
One went to chicago
And the other to st. paul
And I’m in colorado
When I’m not in some hotel
Living out this life I’ve chose
And come to know so well.

I thank you for the music
And your stories of the road
I thank you for the freedom
When it came my time to go --
I thank you for the kindness
And the times when you got tough
And, pap, I don’t think i
Said ’i love you’ near enough --

The leader of the band is tired
And his eyes are growing old
But his blood runs through
My instrument
And his song is in my soul --
My life has been a poor attempt
To imitate the man
I’m just a living legacy
To the leader of the band
I am the living legacy
To the leader of the band.

Sarah Mclaughlin Surfacing....with particular focus on a song that makes me cry because it's so beautiful.

Yep..............that one does it for me too............most of her work does....

if i'm swinging on a downer...........this one chokes me up too.....

Ghosts-Japan...

When the room is quiet
The daylight almost gone
It seems there's something I should know
Well, I ought to leave
But the rain it never stops
And I've no particular place to go

Just when I think I'm winning
When I've broken every door
The ghosts of my life
Blow wilder than before
Just when I thought I could not be stopped
When my chance came to be king
The ghosts of my life
Blew wilder than the wind

Well, I'm feeling nervous
Now I find myself alone
The simple life's no longer there
Once I was so sure
Now the doubt inside my mind
Comes and goes, but leads nowhere

an oldie but a goodie...............................

Strangelove by Depeche Mode............such an honest account of the deliciously agonising yet addictive state we masochists crave.......
(ps it's the psychological state ......not chains and whips.... )

This ones for you Jim...... ....thankyou.....

There’ll be times
When my crimes
Will seem almost unforgivable
I give in to sin
Because you have to make this life liveable
But when you think I’ve had enough
From your sea of love
I’ll take more than another riverfull
And I’ll make it all worthwhile
I’ll make your heart smile

Strangelove
Strange highs and strange lows
Strangelove
That’s how my love goes
Strangelove
Will you give it to me
Will you take the pain
I will give to you
Again and again
And will you return it

There’ll be days
When I’ll stray
I may appear to be
Constantly out of reach
I give in to sin
Because I like to practise what I preach
I’m not trying to say
I’ll have it all my way
I’m always willing to learn
When you’ve got something to teach
And I’ll make it all worthwhile
I’ll make your heart smile

Pain will you return it
I’ll say it again -- pain
Pain will you return it
I won’t say it again

I give in
Again and again
I give in
Will you give it to me
I give in
I’ll say it again
I give in

I give in
Again and again
I give in
That’s how my love goes
I give in
I’ll say it again
I give in

I've never heard of them Monica.

Today I think it's going to be a Doobie Brothers kind of day.

James Taylor...from one of my collection of upteen "best of" CD's.

Everyday it’s getting closer
Going faster than a roller coaster
A love like yours would surely come my way

Everday seems a little faster
All my friends they say go on up and ask her
A love like yours would surely come my way

Everyday it seems a little stronger
Everyday it lasts a little longer
Come what may do you ever long for
True love from me

Everyday seems a little closer
Going faster than a roller coaster
A love like yours would surely come my way

A love like yours would surely come my way
Everyday

I love how James changed the tune of"Everyday" and yet it is still just as good if not better than the original.

Something in the way she moves

There’s something in the way she moves,
Or looks my way, or calls my name,
That seems to leave this troubled world behind.
If I’m feeling down and blue,
Or troubled by some foolish game,
She always seems to make me change my mind.

Chorus:
’n’(and) I feel fine anytime she’s around me now,
She’s around me now
Almost all the time.
’n’(and) if I’m well you can tell that she’s been with me now,
’n’(and) she’s been with me now
Quite a long, long time
And I feel fine.___________

Every now and then the things I lean on lose their meaning,
And I find myself careening
Into places where I should not let me go.
-- she has the power to go where no one else can find me,
Yes, and to silently remind me
Of the happiness and good times that I know, you know.
Well I said I just got to know that:

It isn’t what she’s got to say
Or how she thinks or where she’s been.
To me, the words are nice, the way they sound.
I like to hear them best that way -
It doesn’t much matter what they mean,
Weh (when/well? ) she says them mostly just to calm me down.

Chorus:
’n’(and) I feel fine anytime she’s around me now,
A-she’s around me now
Almost all the time.
If I’m well you can tell that she’s been with me now,
And she’s been with me now
Quite a long,
Long
Time -
Yes, and I feel fine.___________

Here's another good James Taylor song.
