i am gutted......Mercedes, Scotlands favourite bear had to put to sleep yesterday......
It's not a good year for Polar bears
I saw her last summer in her new home and was so happy to see her run around and play in a large pond that i started to cry.......... .....the saving grace is she spent her final months with more freedom than she'd had experienced b4.......

cheeriebye Mercedes, you'll be missed..

That's great that she had more room
but I wonder if maybe Knut was accustomed to
the people visiting, it can get pretty lonely just being by yourself.
Some people or animals thrive on being alone and others just need
to be around others.
It's like living in a big mansion sitting in a beautiful room,
by yourself, hearing the tinkling of the soup bowl
as it echoes throughout the room,
talking to no one except yourself.
Sometimes freedom can be lonely too.

that's so true..........loneliness is more a state of mind, some folk are happiest on their own, others like company.......When i saw Mercedes i was surprised to learn that Polar Bears are generally solitary creatures who prefer their own company.....still, i was so happy to hear they had introduced a young polar bear to the enclosure last Winter....she had company for her final months........
Re 'freedom can be lonely too'......that's a sad reality..... :( i've often wondered if Jim feels like a trapped bird in a gilded cage........ :(

Does Jim feels like a trapped bird in a gilded cage??? I use to think that but I don't think it anymore. I think he does what ever he wants to do. I am sure he gets lonely from time to time but some people would rather be alone and maybe he is one of those people.
If he is alone it is his choice. Life is full choices we just have to try to make the best ones...I wish him luck what ever he decides to do... He is a busy man... Sometimes I can be with lots of people and still feel lonely I guess that's just how it is in the real world...:)

true.....but with all the paparazzi intrusion and the constant loss of privacy i really feel for those folk.......i can understand why some of them snap and want to thump photogs (i think i'd arm myself with a supersoaker and get those paps! ).......lol......it does seem as if Fame is a two edged sword......

When Jim slips into the down side of manic depression he becomes a complete loner. Locking himself in his room for days and cutting himself off from contact with others and a lot of times ending his relationships. :(

Well that is sad cotton but I do the same thing myself sometimes . Sometimes I think we just need a break to figure things out or just have some quiet time or maybe for myself just have a pity party you know oh poor me??? But in a few days I am better and like Jim It really don't have anything to do with anyone else it's me, I really don't like to be around other people and bring them down because as a rule I am a very happy person the people that really know me will sometimes say I am the Joy in there life which I think is a great compliment. But I do have those days.....and to be honest today might be one of em. I hope Jim knows he is loved and I am sure the people that love him understand this. I don't know that much about the paparazzi but it seems he could just smile and wave and see ya later kinda thing but maybe not. It's crazy sometimes how life is. I see he is back in NY I guess he is still there. I would love to meet him him one day. I am a Big Fan.....Love you Jim if you are having one of those days remember tomorrow is a new day..:)

Especially April and Aug
when pollen, allergies, etc. is going on
then get sick or sinus infections -eg. cold, hard to breathe etc.
worried about kids ,finances, hard to sleep or rest, just exhausted
It's usually when everything overwhelmes me
