A religious issue

Up here in Canada there is a new contoroversy:

Our Prime Minister went to a funeral service and
partook of the sacrament(host) bread
Someone accused him of stuffing it in his pocket.
He insisted he ate it and others witnessed and verified.

In the CP article it said that" the host actually becomes the body of Jesus Christ."

Recently, I was reading the Bible and the more I thought and
prayed about it, the more I had this feeling:

The disciples were also confused on the presentation of the Savior and
how he presented this idea, but the only way to understand what he was trying to share with them was for each disciple to pray for himself on this matter.

Individually we have the benefit of personal revelation through prayer, study and inspiration.
The sacrament reminds us of the great life, example and mission of the Savior, what his purpose was. He wanted us all to come back home to him but it only could be done by this one great and eternal sacrifice.

The sacrament can remind us to take upon us the name of Jesus Christ.
How can we do that? By being like him. How simple is that.
The most seemingly complicated item is really quite simple.

When we partake of the Sacrament on Sunday it sets the prescedent for the rest of the week. When we bless our food before we eat, it too reminds us of what we did on Sunday, remembering is the key,
remembering His service, kindness, love, assistance, healing, direction, instruction, forgiveness of others, thoughtfulness, patience and suffering then doing, helping and assisting in the same way.

If we thought, acted, and served the way the Savior did it would be like having the Savior whereever we go, in multiplicity.
We would be one body(group) doing the work of the Savior

This is a reverent and revered individual moment, other people should not be watching who partook and who did not, we are all responsible for our own salvation and waiting to see who did and who didn't shouldn't be of a concern to us individually.

This is my opinion only, others may feel differently, we are all unique.
But it is something that everyone who believes in the Savior needs to find out for themselves individually.

And that's my lecture for the day :P

it´s a delicate matter for sure and the PM should have been more aware of the re-percussions but in the UK the Archbishop of Canterbury, (head of the Anglican faith) has released a statement, saying Holy communion bread and wine sharing is to be stopped until the swine fever pandemic is over........maybe that´s why the pm did it....... :?

I agree with fluffy, the sharing of the wine at these times with that virus, is not a good idea. One does not need bread nor wine to feel as one with the mighty powerful one. And this is just me.

Too bad you can't bring your own....

Postby Canadian Jayne » Thu Jul 30, 2009 4:25 pm

We have the sacrament prayers and the bread & water is put on a tray and passed along, only problem is the multiple contact with the tray.
if you brought your own and took it yourself after the prayer that would avoid any contact and still be heartfelt.

The other problem is some people are wheat intolerant and have to
bring a rice cake piece instead.
I think basically the Lord wanted
us to remember Him,
follow His example
and treat others the way He
would treat them.
If we get too hung up on the item we forget the message.

I also agree is not about the bread or wine, it's about how we respect the things Jesus did and tried doing to keeps us away from sins and respect all around us. Today some teachings have been lost, but AMEN for those who still follow the word of GOD. :D

Hmmm, what gets me through the day?

Postby Canadian Jayne » Fri Jul 31, 2009 5:36 pm

The sunshine, the music, happy memories, kind people, inspiration that
feels like a soft hug, good examples, positive vibes, the rush when
you're on a bicycle, ice cream, a good breakfast, a wake up call,
the words "I love you", "I care", "Good job", "have a great day",
diving into a beautiful pool of people who love the water as much as
you do, touching a fish underwater and letting it go.
A beautiful sunrise and sunset.
Most of these were created by the great creator, that's why I
think about him and thank him often.
This is a beautiful world, I hope we keep it that way, and
pass it on to our children and grkids by making it better than
it was.
