lol.......it's different here too.............24 weeks is the cut off point......after that there has to be serious abnormality or risk.......but it's easiy to get the morning after pill here from chemists and the abortion pill is used. We also have less pro life activity so fewer women are faced with leaving it late to decide.
Clinton cancelled an appearance here last month......lol.......it co-incided with new affair alligations..........lol..........Clinton was a rock star!.....lol

I agree. It's frustrating, but by trying to educate myself and learn what I can about the candidates.....then I can somewhat be proactive in the voting process - at least pick the lesser of 2 evils.

I didn't have the time to answer earlier, because of the new baby in the house and the fact I have to think how to translate most of the stuff.

I guess it is a good thing that you, Europe (and others) live where you live and not in America then. (Although not ALL of Europe would appreciate you speaking on their behalf because I have a dear friend in France who follows our Politics well and he completely would disagree with you and not appreciate you speaking for him.)

When it comes too choosing a president for America, it concerns everyone on earth, since everything that happened in the last years left his marks on the whole world. I know not all of Europe has the same opinion, just like most of the american people I know have a whole other vision than you on this subject. ;)

Yes, Bush did make mistakes (is this where I should mention….he’s HUMAN), but so have many of the other presidents, at least he didn’t lie to the world and get away with it….OH wait….he DID NOT have sexual relations with THAT woman. Jimmy Carter, well lets just say he was a train wreck in the presidency and he still is. So as far as Bush and all his BIG mistakes…..well, congratulations...there's a little bit of truth to that. Although President Bush has over 3 TIMES the approval rating of Congress. The democrat-majority Congress is at NINE PERCENT approval! I don't think it can get any worse than that...most of that 9% is probably Congressional family members. And if our nation has enough faith in him (as they did because he did make it another term), then so be it! He has had more than his share of crap to deal with throughout his second term (thank you Bin Laden and your bomb toting jihad FREAKS! Kill yourself and thousands of others well done here are your virgins….OH! Not so fast!……you’re in hell now – Satan is free to do as he will with you).

You are actually saying that Bush didn't lie during his time? You know, there's actually proof of the fact he lied many times. And I'm not talking about those conspiracy-movies that came from the anti-Bush people, in case you would think that. And only when there was no other option left, he told the truth. He told the truth in such a way you could accept it with open arms. He's good in that. And sure, everyone knows "Bush and his mistakes" is not one person. Does that change something. If I was living in America and kept blind and kept focused on the war in his first time, I would vote for him for the second time also, no doubt.

I will tell you what, I’m grateful that Bush was in the presidency the day 3 planes flew into some of our most prominent buildings seven years ago. So what were you so right about? You are right about our left wing, liberal media freaks. But you shouldn’t say that we aren’t getting ALL the facts. My brother has served 2 tours over there first in Iraq and the second in Afghanistan. I think that his first hand experience is as much truth than you and our media know. But guess what, the war in Iraq isn't even being discussed anymore by the media...because we're WINNING it. We're winning to the degree that we're even preparing to turn it all over to the Iraqis and start withdrawing our troops. Nancy Pelosi and Congress's problem is, they promised ACTION.

First things first, I have all the respect for your brother as a soldier. No doubt. Let that be clear. Now, if your brother has the feeling he did the right thing (and I'm not judging or something like that, I know it's a sensitive subject) that's good. I'm glad he can see it that way.

But what about all those soldiers that are telling the exact oposite? Are they liars? Do they not see the truth? I think that would be easy and stupid answers. I think you should think further than the experience coming from your brother (and others), I'm not saying you should choose a side, but at least, listen to all the soldiers. And -o yeah- soldiers from all over the world, since we got involved.

I actually was laughing out loud when I saw the word WINNING in capital letters, to show you realy mean it. Not laughing because it's funny, but because I just couldn't believe someone said something like that ... it scares me. Nobody is winning this war. What is there to win? How are you winning? What is America winning? The only thing left are losers from both sides. (And I'm not even speaking about the double reasons behind the war) What gives you the illusion that America or any other country actually has something to turn over to Irac again? Are you for real?

Now about the media, just don't sell me that crap. I follow the American news on the internet and I'm always amazed how that's even possible. Realy, sometimes my jaw is even hanging. Now I will tell you something. And I'm talking about Belgium right now. (and I know from first hand -being myself- that it's just the same in the countries surrounding us) A newsanker telling his own opinion or telling the facts only from his side and even judging the happening while presenting ... that's simply unseen overhere! (I'm not talking about the internet) News should be the facts and only the facts, without the newsstaff discussing it for the whole country, choosing sides. My god, I can't imagine what it would be like when the news was like that. So don't tell me anything about 'getting facts' overthere. I just can't believe the things I see and hear. And why do you say 'the left media' ? I'm sorry but, they are both doing it. They are making a game out of it, blowing it up, bringing the other candidate down with things that aren't important. And oh yeah, FOX bringing both sides? Seriously ...

Oh yeah, what were you saying about 'not talking about it anymore' (Irac) ... it's daily news. Still is.

That circus going on in the media would have you believe that Palin is a gun-toting, God loving Christian woman who is a war-monger. Well, this "war-monger" has a son enlisted in the Army who was deployed to Iraq on September 11th. Now, BOTH members of the Republican ticket now have, or did have sons in this war. I'd say they're pretty heavily invested in it, wouldn't you? Who does Obama have in it? What's HIS military record? I'm sorry, maybe "community organizer" on the South Side of Chicago qualifies? Can someone please explain how someone like you feels the liberty to think you know what you’re saying!? OH wait…..you must be a Community Organizer also…..right? That would qualify you to not only run your mouth about something you know a little about and have no experience with…OH and run for president while you’re at it. Palin, as the chief executive of her state, she is better prepared, and has more experience to bring to the presidency than the man who heads the democratic ticket, who had only a year in the U.S. Senate before he started running for president.

Yeah, Palin. You are saying the media told me what to think about her. Well, I don't know about you but, I think for myself. I just focused on the facts (all those dirty stories around here, I don't care about), if she's good, she's good. But, um tell me ... what is she doing besides giving some well written speeches? What has she ever done? Who is that woman, realy? Smart choice, taking her as a running mate ... for the votes, I mean. I think it's a bit weird that you talk about Obama with all those question marks when someone like Palin is in the game.

Yeah, Oboma is also realy good at giving speeches, but that's not why I vote for him. Not at all, I actually looked further then the speeches and compared all of them ... not listening to the promisses ... that's something everyone can do, make promisses. He's the only one that actually has a plan that makes sense on topics that are important for the future, even if I don't like his running mate. When I listen to McCain, it's like hearing Bush. Saying things that change every time he talks. But okay, when I forget about that, I'm still not convinced. Everytime an important topic shows up, he's talking about the war. The war, the war, the war ... Irac, Irac, Irac. What a great vision! Yeah, well, that's fine ... what about the rest? (Economy, social care) ... the man is saying lots of things, but when you think for one second, none of them is realistic. None of them.

Ofcours, the are BOTH showing of right now and saying the things people want to hear, but when you read between the lines, you can see the real ideas. No doubt.

Do you realize that I can actually buy a new house with a pool in Florida right now, for a price that's so low you wouldn't believe it. It's half of the price a small apartement is in the village I'm living. That was unthinkable of 10 years ago. And in case you are wondering ... that means the economy overthere is REALY bad ... and getting worse. And it has consequences for a big part of the world also. Things aren't going well.

And as you admitted you can’t stand the thought of Obama not winning. Well, guess what little boy….He’s not going to win so get use to that thought! The Democratic Party is hanging Obama and themselves with the rope they had hoped to hang McCain and Palin with and we’re all laughing and watching as they do so. For example…..Obama said 'well, the political goals have not been met' ---NOT SO FAST OBAMA…..let me remind you that 15 out of the 18 political benchmarks have been met! So it is you sir, who is insane! And it’s sure a good thing that you do not reside in the USA. And yeah, we all want change…..I thought Washington was broken and we were looking for change? It seems to me that you can't get much further from Washington than Anchorage, Alaska.

WE AMERICANS DO HAVE THE CHANCE TO VOTE RIGHT AND THE MCCAIN/PALIN TICKET IS OUR TICKET TO A CHANGE!! SO BACK OFF BELGIUM BOY! It doesn’t come down to who has the most experience (if it did we all know Obama wouldn’t win anyway) or who speaks the most eloquently or is the most educated, it doesn’t come down to whether or not you went to an Ivy league school. What it does come down to is who has the ability to reason. I will not stand by and watch Obama bastardize America and what it stands for.

Now, about the way of (down)talking. My english isn't that great when it comes to writing and I have to choose more easy words that make poor sentences cause I'm limited by that. There's a lot I can't write down, because I can't complete it because of the missing terms. That's my excuse for sounding a bit less good in explaining ... makes me wonder, what's yours?

Honeslty, it's voters like you I'm afraid of. You are talking about reason and stuff, but ... that's exactly what you aren't doing, my friend. Think outside the box.

For example, there ARE things about Obama I don't like, even more, I absolutely against him on that. Gay people can not get married? For real? Welcome to the medievle times! There's not one reason I can think of why that shouldn't be possible. In fact, it solves a lot of problems that are going on now. (I'm talking about administration, rights, contracts between two people) ... BUT when I do the math, in the end ... he still is the best choice.

Let me just say this, I have nothing against you Jess (realy, not at all) ... but this election is too important to be carefull with words. If you think you should vote for McCain, that's what you have to do. I'm just worried.

Well Grinchy Steve, lets agree to disagree. Because i believe that between the two of us, we could definitely make this the longest thread on JCO, just with our comments alone. ;) And we can go on and on trying to make our points and or try to change points of view.

You can see it your way and I will see it mine. I have done my homework, I have facts and I do see both sides, before running mates were announced, I didn't know which of the two evils was lesser. But I feel very confident in the vote I will cast in November because of the homework I have done.

You are correct in that you cannot rely on the media. Again, that's why I have done my own research. As far as our soldiers, my brother, my best friend, a guy I almost married and plenty of other friends I made while living on Hill Air Force Base, will all tell you that they believe firmly in what they are doing over there. I have yet to run across a soldier that has felt we shouldn't be over there. And I got to know a LOT of soldiers living on base.

So I will say again, lets agree to disagree. Unlike what Obama said in his speach the other day in Elko, Nevada where he tried to anticipate his critics and called on the crowd of about 1,500 to sharpen their elbows, too.

"I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face," he said.

Contention is of the devil. Arguments only turn to contention. Why would you try to spread discontent? That is not an effective way to make a point....to get in someone's face and argue? What kind of example is that? I'm just saying....

I have nothing against you either Steve, it is sad how something that should be so good can turn good people against good people to the point it has. Congratulations on the new baby! :)

Cheers!
Jess

These are evil times. And to the blindness of America, some of our darkest days growing ever darker. We lost a lot with the 'Patriot Act.' I feel it's probably the MOST unpatriotic piece of... and we seem to stand by as the current administration unwrites more and more of our civil liberties with a shrug. I blame them all. Not just the Repubs., but the Democrats, too. YES, 9/11 was a shocker for us all, but Osama Bin Laden won when our own government began to use our Constitution and Bill of Rights for ass wipe. The 55 that signed the Declaration, and they that were instrumental even in the Revolutionary War... they must be turning in their graves. Imagine their unrest as 'We the People' stand by and do nothing as our current gov. undo ALL that was bled for... America, I miss you.   I love what you were America! God Bless your sweet memory.

I was all for going after Bin Laden and his stools when we were hit... then we took a side trip. And our gov. said go buy duct tape to insulate your homes from bio terror... we must have had a terrorist on every corner of the USA since that fateful day. And with all this, don't forget to put those nasty cigarette smokers in their places... and by all means, Adam fuck Steve, coz as long the queers aren't lighting up in public places it's all good... No.
IT'S ALL WRONG! IT'S ALL TWISTED! IT'S ALL PERVERSE!

I'm scared shitless too, Grinchy, coz either way WE LOSE.

Elections over and I admit it, I was wrong....

Postby Canadian Jayne » Wed Nov 05, 2008 11:39 pm

B. Obama came ahead, hope he does a good job, he probably has a great big mess to clean up, kinda feel sorry for him, but happy that he has made history and I think he will be similar to the change over here a kind of wait and see what he does attitude. I think he's going to have to get some divine intervention somehow and pray hard, really hard, same as our polititians.

Wow! How I didn´t see this topic earlier?! ;D

Obama is looking for a new clean energy and his determination for finding this is the same that was some day for walking on the moon. So I think "we" will find finally that clean energy.

The other thing I apreciate from him, apart of looking not in near future but looking for a future farder than tomorrow, is his optimism (and the campaigning word "hope"), this is needed in people more than ever, people have to think in possitive, it´s magic when thinking in possitive you get possitive things then. If you have got war in your mind, that´s what you get.

I think with Obama as pressident, with luck, americans will have health care insurance they need (and who ever wants private one, they still can take it). But there are basical things that have to be assured.

Dialoge, and not doing things like if every country in the world were inferior and invisible. There are things that we must do together and I think that with Obama that things will be easier answered.

There are some more things why Obama is a good answer in this times. But you can actually find them during the next four years and maybe you see it too in the far future with or without Obama.
