Is St. Patrick's Day & SAdie Hawkins Day Linked???

That is the question, I recently read an article re St. Patrick & St. Hilda, and a link to Sadie Hawkins Day, but all items point that Sadie Hawkins Day was invented in early 1900's.
Anyone out there know anything on this?
Do we have any Irish out there on JCO?

lol.........i may be Scottish but you'd think i lived in Dublin the way the Scot's use St Patricks day as an excuse to get drunk........lol......
