You know, before I get into my spiel about my dislike for designer brands, I must say thank you to JimCarrey Online - Off Topic Forum, for giving me a place to vent! Thank you!
Okay (ahem) .....don't you just hate haute couture?
I mean, I love fashion design, and in fact, right after high school, I went to college so I could be a fashion designer. But it was always my dream to design clothes for REAL people - not clothes racks with fake boobs. (anyways, I quit after two months and got my honours degree at university).
But it's just plain silly to shell out mega-bucks for nothing but a name, don't you think? I mean, if the garment is made ouf of gold, and it's just one of a kind, then I can understand it being expensive. But if the only reason it's costs so much is because of a person's name, then it makes me feel nauseous. IT JUST DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!
As a vegan/raw food advocate, I thought maybe Stella McCartney would be an exception. Except that she's just like the rest of them, and exclusive. Who the hell is going to shell out 500 for a pair of shoes? And even if you did have that kind of money, what makes it right?
So, as soon as I win the lottery, I'm thinking of creating my own line of clothes, for women who have opted out of plastic surgery and starvation diets, made with natural fabrics, not tested on animals, and accessible to everyone.
And if my dreams ever come true, and you see me on the red carpet promoting a movie I've written or documentary I've produced, rest assured I won't be wearing Dolce & Gabana or Armani! I'm sorry, it's just blasphemous.
Who feels the same way?
