Special Milk for cats...

Postby Canadian Jayne » Wed Oct 12, 2005 6:09 pm

On the weekend I found out that there is a special milk you can guy for
cats. Regular milk can make them sick, so think about it. It's called
"Cat milk" it looks like a tetra pack.

She's still very poorly. She seemed better, but her back end is packing up. She's really losing control. She can't eat much either, she's sick all the time.
We decided not to have her put to sleep, but to let her fall asleep in the comfort of her own home, when the time comes. It's better that way. I want her to be around the people who have loved and cared for her the most.
She's a special little so-and-so. We've had some great times together. She's always been there when I've felt sad. I've alwys sat and cuddled her, and she's comforted me like no other living thing could. I'll truly miss her.

I guess that this happens when you choose to have a pet. I'd have been losing her anyway in February, as my Mum is moving away and taking the pets with her. I'm not sure if Holly will last that long, but if she does, i hope she regains some control of her back.
I feel so sad when i write about this, but death is merely a part of life. She's lived with us for nearly 6 years, and those 6 years will always be in my heart and my mind...

EDIT: It's so strange reading that back. I suddenly feel like a grown up. For the first time since I have turned 18. (Nearly a year!) Holly has opened a gate... I'm learning to accept things on a better level. If you buy a pet, I guess you have to expect to lose it...

It is so hard to lose an animal friend....I feel for ya, cablegal. Kiss her lots!

We just added another to our family of furries....Gracie the kitty has been with us for almost a month now--she was difficult at first, growled and hissed--but is really settling in. She had a lot to take in when she moved in with us. She had a new baby in her house and the mommy didn't want cats around anymore. Gracie (my son named her) who had never left the house she was born in, was 6 months old and in the span of 2 days rode in a car, went to the vet, got fixed, got shots, rode in a car, went to a new home, and met the 2 dogs of the house who were torn between rolling on her and chasing her (they thought she was a new toy).......poor kitty! All is better now and the dogs are more hesitant to stick their faces all up in her business IF ya know what I mean!!!!! Fiesty kitty!

So---our family consists of myself, my 16 yr old son, my 15 yr old daughter,
mini schnauzer--Samson
Cairn terrior--Cricket
Siamese--Gracie
chinchilla--Chi Chi Chin Chow Choo Choo
red eared slider (turtle!!)--Jimmy (nope--not our fav guy--the turtle belongs to my son and I have no idea why he named him Jimmy)
and a betta fish that we affectionately call...."fishfish"

Yup--he is my lover guy!!! He sleeps with me and his fav position is what I call "teddy-bear style"---I basically spoon him and wrap my arms through his front legs like a big teddy bear. He is 10 years old and is such a friend to me.

We have a unique family pet....an african lung fish....no kidding, his name is Riley, he's about 3 feet long, approximately 24 years old and he loves it when you pet him...he wags his tail like a dog - no kidding
His face is shaped like a snake, but the eyes are further down on the head and he has "kissy lips", it looks like he's puckering up!

or....you could pan fry them like smelts...orange ones, blue ones, a deliciously colourful display...maybe open a restaurant....lol..lol...lol

His tank is actually the bottom of a U shaped trough, no glass to clean! This is the base of the showroom for the cichlids, it measures 3' wide x 2' deep x 42 feet long. Lot of room for him to swim - He goes under the water jets for his daily jacuzzi, puts his head right in the pipe!! Clever lad! There are 2 more rows of aquariums above where the african cichlids are kept ...it's all on one system so cleaning is easy...it's done with the force of the water flow! and a bit of scooping. He just swims around us while we clean, like a cat or dog being noisy...he's sosososo cute - Oh and he burps..no kidding..he has lungs and gills so when he takes in a big gulp some time he burps...of course I know he's saying hi...I'll have to post a pic or 2 more for you...He has been lifted up but not really "held". He hasn't bitten, though if startled, he'll snap, scares the heck out of you!!
His jaw is set so that his teeth are futher back and he takes food in with a suction motion, when we feed him earth worms he sucks them in like spagetti - you should hear it!!
Yup, I guess there's a little fluffy in me too! We had a woman come in and she warmed up to him really quickly, until she startled him, he has to be approached like a dog or cat, he looks you in the eye. Well, she stuck her hand out and he snapped!! She jumped so high and the look on her face!! I'm surprised we didn't wet ourselves laughing so hard.
