I found this today, and it's funny for me because it's what I am studying lmao, it will also help if someone here is thinking to study a philogy, in my case is English philology, but there're many others! Read this before choose to study it!!
Reasons to study English Philology
1) Because we went silence when teachers told us that you can not pronounced “aren’t” in the same way you write it.
2) Because to risk your whole semester and the scholarship in one single exam in June is the best way to start the summer holidays!
3) Because you have to attend classes OBLIGATORY everyday to pass your exams.
4) Because you spend 4 hours in an exam doing just a single text’s commentary in one folio
5) Because we love that all the subjects are annual (which means you attend classes of it for the whole 2 semesters) and in this way we can enjoy June and July!
6) Because be scolded by a teacher because you didn’t attend another subject only happen in this degree.
7) Because spent 3 weeks doing exams of English Grammar/History/Literature… is priceless.
Because the marks you get in your exams are not related with the way you did the exam but it depends of the teacher and if he/she likes the way you are writing.
9) Because when you discovered that it’s possible to say “peoples” your life changed.
10) Because teachers never ever will correct your grammar faults.
11) Because spend all your money making photocopies is what we all wish.
12) Because you never end your homework, even if you spent the whole day doing so, there’re always more things to do.
13) Because everyone look at you as if you were a freak if you pronounced a word with English accent.
14) Because real 30 books, 150 short stories, 1,550 poems and learn all their comments per year is the dream of every single student.
15) Because we look with hate at all that people who tell us: “Hey” if you know English, then it’s easy to get the degree”
16) Because teachers invite you to take coffee with them which only happened in philology.
17) Because the classes are attended for so few people that you get to know wonderful people and you feel like in family!
18) Because you have not idea about what is going to be your future job after study this.
19) For all this and for many other reasons is why I am studying philology.
