Jim Carrey discussion on non-movie related topics or topics which doesn't fit anywhere else...

Evan Almighty is set to be the most costly comedy in history with cost escalating to a possible $250 million. How ironic considering Jim's lost 2 movies which together would be roughly $250 million.......bearing in mind Jim started the ball rolling with Bruce.......
what's going on?????

On top of that, Jim's not even IN Evan Almighty.....Steve Carell's a funny guy, but how well is the movie going to fare without Jim....?! I'm scratching my head too fluffy.....

$175 million production budget. And $75 million marketing.
I think it will be next summers big hit and proiftable. But insane with such big budgets.
$250 million is the same budget as Titanic had including marketing!

it's going insane now.........totally crazy.........Eternal was made on a shoestring in comparison.........and yet it's regarded as one of the best movies of recent years........lets get back to basics, a great script, wonderful acting and classy direction......special effects areall very well, but if the story and script are lousy then what's the point??.......
Is it just me or do other folk feel that film makers are treating their audiences a bit like idiots who need their special effects fix........i want classy, good movies........

I'm with you, Fluffy, but after all I'm a chick.
I'd rather see something refined, real and meaningful than sit through a two-hour adrenaline rush.
I can drive to Disney World any day of the week for a roller coaster ride instead...and I never have.

personally, i think that it's just going to be a total flop, not to mention a huge waste of money. I mean, are we all forgetting what happened with The Mask 2??

I believe that Evan Almighty is taking more advantage of Steve Carrell's popularity than Jim's, he became quite a success since 2003 and they know that.
I'm pretty neutral towards it because I know that they won't be copying Jim like they did in the tortures that were Dumb & Dumberer and Son Of The Mask. It's a whole new story just like in Son Of The Mask, which costed a great deal too, but let's just hope that Evan won't suck as much! I'm totally indifferent to how much money was put into it.

agreed....as long as it's original, Steve should be able to carry the movie just fine. He was awesome in the 40-year-old virgin.....!

yep, i agree Sharon.......it's been too long since Bruce now for people to regard it as a direct sequel.......they'll both stand alone......
