Sonic 2 Returns to Netflix’s Top Charts as Fans Await Sonic 4

Jim Carrey’s Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is proving it still has plenty of speed left in the tank. The 2022 blockbuster has made a strong return on Netflix in the United States, landing among the streaming service’s Top 10 most-watched movies. The renewed popularity comes as work continues on Sonic the Hedgehog 4, keeping excitement high for the franchise’s future.
According to recent streaming rankings, "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" climbed to the No. 5 position on Netflix’s U.S. movie chart. The film has also reached No. 2 on Netflix’s list of top kids movies in the country, highlighting its enduring appeal with families several years after first arriving in theaters.
The continued success of the sequel demonstrates how the Sonic franchise has remained a favorite among viewers of all ages. While newer releases constantly compete for attention, audiences continue to return to Sonic’s adventures and Jim Carrey’s wildly entertaining performance as the villainous Dr. Robotnik.
Directed by Jeff Fowler, the sequel brought back Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic, alongside returning cast members James Marsden and Tika Sumpter. The film also expanded the Sonic universe by introducing fan-favorite characters Tails and Knuckles in major roles, with Colleen O’Shaughnessey and Idris Elba lending their voices to the beloved heroes. For many viewers, however, Jim remained one of the film’s biggest attractions. His portrayal of Dr. Robotnik delivered the same energetic comedy and physical performance style that has made him one of Hollywood’s most recognizable stars. Following its theatrical release in 2022, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 became a major box-office hit, earning more than $405 million worldwide. The film’s success helped launch an expanded Sonic cinematic universe that now includes Sonic the Hedgehog 3, the Knuckles spin-off series, and the upcoming fourth movie.
