Happy New Year!
31 Dec 2025

By Tommy Pihl (Editor-in-Chief)

As another year comes to an end, it’s time to look back at what 2025 brought for Jim Carrey and his fans. While it was a noticeably quieter year in terms of public appearances, it was still filled with important milestones, career-defining achievements, and a few truly special moments that reminded us why Jim remains such a beloved and influential figure.

On January 17, Jim Carrey celebrated his 63rd birthday.

On April 2, Jim Carrey paid tribute to his Batman Forever co-star Val Kilmer, who passed away at 65. In a heartfelt statement, Jim praised Kilmer not only for his extraordinary talent but also for his strength and character, saying, “His greatest artistic achievements were rivaled only by the grace and courage with which he endured his life’s most challenging moments. Wishing his family so much love.”

On April 3, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 officially ended its theatrical run. The film proved to be a massive success, helping Jim Carrey cross an incredible career milestone — over $6 billion in total global box office earnings. This achievement places him among an elite group of just 53 actors in history to reach that level. Sonic 3 alone grossed $492 million worldwide, officially surpassing Bruce Almighty to become Jim Carrey’s highest-grossing movie of all time. The Sonic trilogy has now earned over $1.2 billion globally.

On June 21, Jim Carrey received two nominations at the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards — Favorite Movie Actor and Favorite Villain for his role as Dr. Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. These nominations marked his 16th and 17th Kids’ Choice nominations overall, further highlighting his lasting popularity with younger audiences. Although the film did not win any awards this year, its strong presence among the nominees reflected just how much the Sonic franchise continues to connect with fans.

In August, it became official that Jim Carrey’s longtime Brentwood home, where he lived for nearly 30 years, was sold for $17 million — marking the end of an era.

Later in the month, on August 22, Jim made a rare public appearance when he attended his friend Jeff Ross’ Broadway show, Take a Banana for the Ride. The one-man show marked a major milestone for Ross, and Jim’s presence in the audience was a wonderful show of support. Dressed casually yet stylishly, Jim looked relaxed and in great spirits. It was truly a joy to see him out and about, something fans always appreciate given how rarely he appears in public these days.

On October 1, it was officially announced that Jim Carrey will receive an Honorary César Award at the 51st César Awards in Paris on February 27, 2026. The César Awards are considered the French equivalent of the Academy Awards, making this one of the highest international honors of Jim’s career.

On November 8, Jim Carrey returned to the spotlight in a big way when he took the stage at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to induct the legendary band Soundgarden. His heartfelt and deeply personal speech was one of the highlights of the evening. Drawing from his lifelong love of music and his personal memories of the band, Jim delivered a powerful tribute that perfectly blended humor, emotion, and admiration. The moment was made even more meaningful as he shared the stage with Lilly Cornell Silver, honoring the legacy of the late Chris Cornell and the lasting impact of Soundgarden’s music. On the same day, Jim gave several interviews, many of which are now available to view.

On December 12, the documentary Starring Dick Van Dyke aired, celebrating the legendary career of Dick Van Dyke. Jim Carrey appeared as one of the featured interviewees in new exclusive clips, sharing his admiration for Dick’s work and reflecting on the influence the comedy icon has had on generations of performers. Fans were thrilled to see Jim contributing to this heartfelt tribute.

On the same day December 12, one of Jim Carrey’s most beloved films returned to theaters as How the Grinch Stole Christmas celebrated its 25th anniversary. The holiday classic once again brought Jim’s unforgettable performance to the big screen, just in time for the festive season. By the end of December, the re-release had grossed around $3 million, proving that the Grinch’s heart — and Jim’s performance — continues to grow bigger with each generation. The timing was especially touching, as Jim and Taylor Momsen reunited earlier in November at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony.

As the year came to a close, Paramount announced exciting future plans for the Sonic universe, including Sonic the Hedgehog 4, scheduled for release on March 19, 2027, and a new Sonic spin-off film planned for release on December 22, 2028. While no official confirmation has been made regarding Jim Carrey’s involvement, fans remain hopeful that Dr. Robotnik may return once again. In an interview, Jim Carrey shared that he is open to returning as Dr. Robotnik. "I'm definitely open. I'm open to the idea, and generally, they come to me with the next idea, and if I go, 'That sounds fun,' then I'll do it. I certainly love this crew, I love this gang that makes these movies, and I love the fans. There's a lot of really great energy around it." Throughout the year, rumors also circulated about other potential projects, including The Jetsons movie, keeping excitement alive about what the future might hold.

We look ahead with optimism and excitement for what’s to come.
