Madsen joins "The Number 23"

It's been reported today in Variety that "Sideways" star Virginia Madsen is in talks to play Jim Carrey's wife in "The Number 23," after Elisabeth Shue stepped down when she learned she was pregnant.
In the film, Carrey comes across a book titled "The Number 23." and becomes obsessed with the messages he 'finds' in the pages, to the point that he soon realizes that the book predicts catastrophic events and consequences for his own life.
Madsen's character is to play Carrey's wife, who also is a character in the book. Danny Huston ("The Constant Gardener") will portray a mutual friend, whilst Rhona Mitra ("Boston Legal") will play a character called Suicide Girl.
Madsen was nominated for an Oscar for "Sideways" and next appears with Harrison Ford in the "Firewall," which opens February 10.
Shooting is set to begin next week in Los Angeles.
