im fairly certain that the USA only has 50 states + purto rico

hawaii and alaska are counted in the 50.....carreypunkrawker you may want to count again....

Being twelve isn't an excuse for being mean.

It's also my understanding that there are 50 states. But, you have to admit, when you get older it's a little confusing when you see Guam, US Virgin Islands and Peurto Rico in the Miss America pageant. I think those are "territories" and not states, though.

The perceptions of America that I've read here are kind of funny, but I lived in Europe for 7 years and so I heard a lot of it before.

I appreciate each country that I have ever travelled to.

The most common misperception I think people from other countries have about America is that we Americans are all the same.

But I think we think that about other counties, too. Blunt probably knows that the folks in Bavaria are different than the folks in Berlin.

Imagine those differences multiplied many times. The U.S. is SO vast, that each area can be very different than another. But we are united by a common language which borrows words and phrases from other languages and is constantly evolving.

Sometimes I think my country is like a big chemistry experiment. It's relatively NEW and has a population made up of many different ethnicities.

The thing that I am proudest of is America's ability to self-correct mistakes and injustices in it's culture.

It's by no means a perfect country, but it's constantly analyzing itself and questioning.

It can produce a Martin Luther King Jr.

It can produce a Ronald Reagan.

It can produce a Condoleeza Rice.

It can produce a Hillary Clinton.

In fact, a lot of the issues about pollution or race-relations or gay rights that you are able to read about concerning America are a result of our own FOCUS on those things as we attempt to further progress and correct.

Oh, and cow farts produce far more pollution than cigarettes!

Well....you aren't going to make ME hate ADC.
See....I control what I forgive and don't and no one can make me hate anyone.

In fact, when people TRY to make me hate someone, it usually reflects poorly on them.

ADC asked if you are stupid, and yeah, that was mean....but swearing revenge is only going to escalate things.

What you put on this board represents you. What ADC puts on this board represents ADC. But ADC is twelve. Don't be responsible for a smear campaign. It has made others look very bad.

I understand that you're offended....but don't go to that level.

At the very least, give the poster a chance to apologize and if that happens, ACCEPT it.

I can understand that carreypunkrawker is angry. He only wanted to answer my question and then saying that he is stupid....

@quirky: Yeah, I know that the stereotypes are not right or partially right. But this is why I opened this thread. To erase them if they are wrong or to know if they are true. It is really funny for me to talk with people who live that far away about stuff like that.
