A more rescent sad song that I've cried over a few times is "Ordinary People" by John Legend

Girl, I'm in love with you
But this ain't the honeymoon
We're past the infatuation phase

We're right in the thick of love
At times we get sick of love
It seems like we argue everyday

I know I misbehaved
And you made your mistakes
And we've both still got room left to grow

And though love sometimes hurts
I still put you first
And we'll make this thing work
But I think we should take it slow

We're just ordinary people
We don't know which way to go
'Cause we're ordinary people
Maybe we should take it slow
Take it slow
This time we'll take it slow
Take it slow
This time we'll take it slow

This ain't a movie, naw
No fairytale conclusion, y'all
It gets more confusing everyday

Sometimes it's heaven-sent
Then we head back to hell again
We kiss and we make up on the way

I hang up, you call
We rise and we fall
And we feel like just walking away

As our love advances,
we take second chances
Though it's not a fantasy
I still want you to stay

We're just ordinary people
We don't know which way to go
'Cause we're ordinary people
Maybe we should take it slow
Take it slow
This time we'll take it slow
Take it slow
This time we'll take it slow

Maybe we'll live and learn
Maybe we'll crash and burn
Maybe you'll stay, maybe you'll leave,
maybe you'll return
Maybe another fight,
maybe we won't survive
Maybe we'll grow, we never know
Baby, you and I

We're just ordinary people
We don't know which way to go, yeah
'Cause we're ordinary people
Maybe we should take it slow
We're just ordinary people
We don't know which way to go
'Cause we're ordinary people
Maybe we should take it slow
Take it slow
This time we'll take it slow
Take it slow
This time we'll take it slow
Take it slow, slow
This time we'll take it slow
Take it slow
This time we'll take it slow

You've got to hear it!
Profound words are not clever. Clever words are not profound. -Verse 81 of the Tao Te Ching

This song makes me think of Jim

Everybody Hurts~REM

When your day is long
And the night
The night is yours alone
When you're sure
You've had
Enough of this life
Well hang on
Don't let yourself go
'Cause everybody cries
And everybody hurts
Sometimes

Sometimes everything is wrong
Now it's time to sing along
(When your day
Is night alone)
Hold on, hold on
(If you feel like letting go)
Hold on
If you think you've had
Too much of this life
Well hang on

'Cause everybody hurts
Take comfort
In your friends
Everybody hurts

Don't throw your hand

Oh, no
Don't throw your hand
When you feel
Like you're alone
No, no, no
You're not alone

If you're on your own
In this life
The days and
Nights are long
When you think
You've had too much
Of this life
To hang on

Well, everybody hurts
Sometimes
Everybody cries
And everybody hurts
Sometimes

And everybody hurts
Sometimes

So, hold on, hold on
Hold on, hold on
Hold on, hold on
Hold on, hold on
(Everybody hurts
You are not alone)

I Can't Make You Love Me
written by Mike Reid and Allen Shamblin
as performed by Bonnie Raitt

Turn down the lights
Turn down the bed
Turn down these voices
inside my head

Lay down with me
Tell me no lies
Just hold me close,
don't patronize

Don't patronize me

Cause I can't make you love me
if you don't
You can't make your heart feel
something it won't
Here in the dark
in these final hours
I will lay down my heart
And I'll feel the power
but you won't
No, you won't
Cause I can't make you love me
if you don't

I'll close my eyes
then I won't see
the love you don't feel
when you're holding me

Morning will come
and I'll do what's right
just give me till then
to give up this fight
and I will give up this fight

Cause I can't make you love me
if you don't
You can't make your heart feel
something it won't
Here in the dark
in these final hours
I will lay down my heart
And I'll feel the power
but you won't
No, you won't
Cause I can't make you love me
if you don't
"When in doubt, tell the truth."

I have always love 'Its a Wonderful World' by Louis Armstrong; and the other one that doesn't get much air time is the one by Dream Acadamy and the title is 'Life in a Northern Town'. I always get a bit nastolgic (sp) over that one. Christmas time feeling! I miss the simple life of childhood.

NOTHING TAKES THE PLACE OF YOU~Toussaint McCall

I moved your picture
From my walls
And I replaced them
Both large and small
And each new day
Finds me so blue
Nothing
Takes the place of you

I read your letters one by one
And I still love you
When it's all said and done
And oh, my darling, I'm so blue
Because nothing
Oh nothing
Takes the place of you

I, I write this letter
It's raining on my window pane
I, I feel the need of you
Because without you
Nothing seems the same

So I'll wait
Until you're home
Again I love you
But I'm all alone
And oh my darling
I'm so blue
Because nothing
Oh, but nothing takes the place of you.

This is one that I haven't heard for awhile... but it really touches down deep there in the heart...

TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART (Bonnie Tyler )

Turnaround, every now and then I get a
little bit lonely and you're never coming around
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a
little bit tired of listening to the sound of my tears
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a
little bit nervous that the best of all the years have gone by
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a
little bit terrified and then I see the look in your eyes
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and
then I fall apart
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and
then I fall apart
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a
little bit restless and I dream of something wild
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a
little bit helpless and I'm lying like a child in your arms
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a
little bit angry and I know I've got to get out and cry
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a
little bit terrified but then I see the look in your eyes
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and
then I fall apart
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and
then I fall apart

And I need you now tonight
And I need you more than ever
And if you'll only hold me tight
We'll be holding on forever
And we'll only be making it right
Cause we'll never be wrong together
We can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time
I don't know what to do and I'm always in the dark
We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks
I really need you tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight

Once upon a time I was falling in love
But now I'm only falling apart
There's nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the heart
Once upon a time there was light in my life
But now there's only love in the dark
Nothing I can say
A total eclipse of the heart

Turnaround bright eyes
Turnaround bright eyes
Turnaround, every now and then I know
you'll never be the boy you always you wanted to be
Turnaround, every now and then I know
you'll always be the only boy who wanted me the way that I am
Turnaround, every now and then I know
there's no one in the universe as magical and wonderous as you
Turnaround, every now and then I know
there's nothing any better and there's nothing I just wouldn't do
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and
then I fall apart
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and
then I fall apart

And I need you now tonight
And I need you more than ever
And if you'll only hold me tight
We'll be holding on forever
And we'll only be making it right
Cause we'll never be wrong together
We can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time
I don't know what to do and I'm always in the dark
We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks
I really need you tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight

Once upon a time I was falling in love
But now I'm only falling apart
There's nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the heart
Once upon a time there was light in my life
But now there's only love in the dark
Nothing I can say
A total eclipse of the heart

Nearing the Holiday season can be lonely...

Post by wonderbunny »

I have always loved Kenny Loggins 'Celebrate Me Home' - With the hustle and bustle of the season. Just hearing the words can bring a meloncholy moment followed by a pleasent sense of relief. Strange emotional trip. Its ends with Hope! I love that guy. No wonder they use his music for so many movies!

Another is Old Angzime (sp) New Years tune about the man and woman, who used to be in a relationship and now she's married. Apparenty and they bump into each other in the supermarket one snowy night, she spills her purse.... They exchange a brief conversation and he returns to his car and the snow turns into rain.
It always struck me. Running into old relationships after years of separation. Either love interests or old friends. A flood of emotions and memories. Loneliness, and what ifs...

I LOVE Celebrate me home!

watch out for this one, Fluffs, it is sad

Me and Little Andy~Dolly Parton

Late one cold and stormy night I heard a dog-a-barkin'.
Then I thought I heard somebody at my door a knockin'.
I wondered who could be outside in such an awful storm.
Then I saw a little girl with a puppy in her arms.

Before I could say a word she said,
"My name is Sandy. And this here is my puppy dog,
it's name is little Andy."
Standing in the bitter cold in just a ragged dress.
Then I asked her to come in and this is what she said.

"Ain't ya got no gingerbread? Ain't ya got no candy?
Ain't ya got an extra bed for me and little Andy?

Patty cake, a baker's man, my mommy ran away again.
We was all alone and didn't know what else to do,
I wondered if you'd let us stay with you.

Giddyup Charlie horse, going to the mill.
Can we stay all night?
If you don't love us, no one will, I promise we won't cry!
London Bridge is falling down, my daddy's drunk again in town.
We was all alone and didn't know what we could do.
We wondered if you'd let us stay with you."

She was just a little girl, not more than six or seven.
That night as they slept the angels took them both to heaven.
God knew little Andy would be lonesome with her gone.
Now Sandy and her puppy dog won't ever be alone.

"Ain't ya got no gingerbread? Ain't ya got no candy?
Ain't ya got an extra bed for me and little Andy."
