Depeche Mode, I was a Smiths fan; and I also enjoyed Psychedelic Furs and B52s. I just drifted into mind erasure land complete with orange hair do, black clothes from head to toe, and lots of black eyeliner
.

Oh God, that brings back memories............the only band i didn't see was the B52's but i had the records......yes records!!!!!

In fact i saw Erasure about 3 times...............one time Andy Bell dressed up in a giant chicken dress........aaahhhh.....such showmanship.....
and i miss the black clothes and eyeliner sometimes.........wistful sigh.......

"If I had never ventured beyond being a stand-up comic, then I would be sitting in my house today working on my Leonardo DiCaprio impression."
Jim Carrey

from this quote i'm sure he won't get back to be a stand-up comic.but he loves making movies why would he retire.

Where did this idea of retirement come from?

He seems to be in a transition period searching for the right roles. He's covered so much material in his career. He has a worked so hard to get where he is, he can now really take the time to pick and choose the next project. Maybe that's why he's taken a hiatus.

I don't know what he is doing or what he is going to be doing, all I know is he should relax.

Then again it's his occupation....and from the looks of it he enjoys it...it a challenge and an experience....not abd to put in your CV though huh? Lol!!!

Interviewer: "So what have you done then?2
Jim:"Wellllll.....

i'm just curious and please forgive me if i missed this part, but it sounds like from this thread, that Jim's on the verge of a break-down - that he needs the rest. maybe he did need a break but from the sounds of this, he is some feeble dude and to me, he looked very healthy in the last shots i saw of him

i don't personally think that's the case (however, i don't know him personally SO there you go). lots of actors take a little "leave" if you will from acting - that doesn't mean they're quitting the biz. my guess is that the good scripts are few and far between based on some of the movies that have come out lately. it seems like the only "new" thing out there is to remake tv shows or do sequels (or prequels).

It's got to be hard to take a leave. He'd be welcome to come and have corned beef with my family on Thursday night if he really wants to relax...and if I can find corned beef at the store. They don't always have it and they SHOULD! We cook it with cabbage potatoes and carrots. If I can't find it, maybe I'll bake a chicken.

But I think it has got to be hard to find a script for a film that is really worthwhile.

He'd probably worry about himself if he read some of our stuff....lol  ........

let's face it he probably wouldn't even recognise the bloke we describe..........
I've joked before that he's probably more Grinch than Bruce.....

and the toupee and false teeth are SUCH a turn off.......then there's the surgical truss the halitosis the hemarroids, the bladder weakness, prostrate problems and chronic flatulence......AND they've recently discovered that Viagra can make you go blind......so nookie will be out of the question..........(but with all the above it's probably not going to be an issue.............) .........AAAhhh....it's amazing what make-up and surgery can do these days...............sigh
