I've learned:

That at any given day I will get the question "Do You Work Here?" about 50 to 60 times in one shift. (and to add to it I am wearing formal work outfit with a walkie-talkie headset and badge that says employee and my name on it. lol)
I am part of an elite group of people......THE MEN OF JCO.

I didn't learn this today but I did learn it about a month ago

I was riding my old bike, (thankfully someone helped me out and
bought me a new bike, there it was waiting for me at work.
Thank goodness for kind people.)I don't ride the new one unless
it's chained up pretty well.

Anyway, I was riding the old bike but got hit by a car, it happened
pretty fast, when I saw the car was coming I automatically turned the handle bars and the car hit the wheel, it wobbled the wheel, the person asked if I was alright, and drove away.

I learned it's important to have good reflexes and it just may save your life. I was a little sore for a few days but other than that, maybe someone's looking out for me up there.
I thought at the time "Hey, maybe I do have a purpose here"

Here the cars are allowed to do a right hand turn on a red light
if they stop first, but the car did a rolling stop instead of a full stop, the way I was going the sign was for me to cross the street.
I crossed with my bike but, like I said , he did not stop soon enough.

When you see it coming, it's kind of a shock, I don't even remember
thinking about what to do, I ended up more into the intersection
thinking "Did that just happen??"

I got up, walked the bike, looked at the person in the car,
I thought it may have been someone I knew from where I worked
but realized later it wasn't.
He said "Are you alright" " Ya, I guess so" I said
I was so focused on getting to work because I had to teach an
Aquafit class, I just kept on going.
All I could think of was "I just have to get through this class"

Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.

Ironic thing was I was coming from the sidewalk and the light was
for pedestrians to walk, good thing I wasn't walking.

I prefer the sidewalk also if it is empty, if someone is walking
on the sidewalk I usually slow down, get off bike and walk the bike
when I pass the pedestrian, I think it's only good manners to do so.

I haven't always done this but as I thought about it I realized that
a bike can be kinda scary if you come up pretty fast so it's best to
let them see you, dismount, walk the bike past the pedestrian,
then get on the bike and ride, if there aren't too many people on
the sidewalk, otherwise I ride on the road.
But like you say it can pretty scary with traffic moving along with bikes.

Re: I learned "Crokinole" was invented in SW Ont.

I wonder if Jim ever played this game as a kid? :P

As a kid I'd play the game with my siblings,

usually around Christmas time. :D

Lately, I've been playing quite often with friends, it's all in the flick.

a game that was invented in SouthWestern Ontario, who would have
thought.
I wonder if there is a Crokinole Museum yet.

I've learn to try something I never done before and not be afraid if people like it or not.

I tried paintting acrylic on canvas and I'm proud of what I have done. I'm not Picaso but I'm having fun.
I'm a guardian of the spark...
I'm a God damn and proud good fan... and I love it! = )>

That Anderson Cooper is launching a new website on Sept 12, 2011
thankfully it's not on Sept 11, good choice.

I thought I'd dedicate a new rendition poem to Anderson
since his site isn't up and running yet:

It's re the above mentioned "Depardieu" incident
from the "Ridiculist" just after I saw the video
I had to write this, hope it doesn't offend anyone.

sing it to the tune of "If I could save time in a bottle"
I call it The Depardieu Ode

"If I could just pee in a bottle
just like Depardieu
I'd save me some time
instead of standing in line
as long, as it's not # 2"
