Pffft to the Golden Globes. Let's get an Oscar shout-out!
Hola all, Mick from the Being Charlie Kaufman site.
Stupid Golden Globes, what are these people thinking? Ah well, we shouldn't be surprised. Eternal wasn't mainstream enough for them, it's not the kind of flick to get serious attention at awards shows like that. You get nominated based on talent and performance, but you win based on politics.
Annnyway, wiith the Oscars upon us, and with Charlie Kaufman having a better shot at winning one of those than he did a Golden Globe, BeingCharlieKaufman.com has kicked off a campaign called You Say Potato 2005. What's that? In a nutshell: we're trying to get a shout out from Charlie on Oscar night. A mention of the site, the web community - his fans, meaning YOU - anything. (He's the guy who wrote Eternal Sunshine, btw.)
"Awesome. I'm sure he'll go for it. What can I do to help?" Charlie ain't gonna give a shout-out unless he knows that we want him to. So to increase the chances of this idea reaching Charlie, feel free to create website logos, buttons and banners, and plaster them on other sites, blogs or message boards, with a link back to this page: http://www.beingcharliekaufman.com/potato.htm (Go visit it for the full explanation of what this is all about and where the potato comes into it.) If you see Charlie Kaufman on the street, or you sit next to him on a bus, please corner him and politely explain the idea in a calm, thoughtful, non-stalkerish manner. Maybe it would help if you are also dressed as a potato, just for a visual aid. I'm sure he'll dig it. I should've thought of this idea months ago. We could've taken out full-page ads in Variety.
Keep us appraised of your efforts

i agree with u guys.there is politics about nominating Jim in oscar and other awards.he is a victim of partiality.he should win oscar even get a nomination for his previous works like in the truman show or in the man on the moon.i dont know whats going to happen with him this time.i wish he wins.

Somebody to luv me(Jim)
Yay, the troops are gathering beside me.
SPREAD THE WORD.
I have an idea that a few years from now, if Jim perseveres with some more dramatic roles like Eternal, Truman, etc., he'll get what I call a Depp.
Johnny Depp should've been nominated for an Oscar for some of his earlier work, like Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, stuff like that. Instead he's nommed for... Pirates?! It's like the voters suddenly realised Johnny was overdue for recognition, so they went, "Okay, this year will do."
If Jim keeps on truckin', in a few years he may end up with a Depp -- an award that's actually in recognition of the stuff he's doing now.

The Oscar voters are lame anyway. It's absolute bullsh*t that Jim didn't get nominated. The film came out in March last year so these short attention span dunderheads forgot about it and pick movies that have barely been released. They remembered Kate though, but the whole film should've been nominated for more than just "Best Screenplay"...
