Re: Jim Carrey in Final Talks to Star in 'Sonic the Hedgehog
I don't know how to begin... lots of thoughts. First of all, i don't think the trailer and the design of Sonic look as horrific as most people say. I don't think the CGI looks spectacular, but there are 6 months left until the premiere, so they should do everything they can to fix this in post-production. I didn't grow up playing the game, so i don't have nostalgia, i'm just judging what i see.
Speaking of Jim, i like how he looks and the fact that Dr. Eggman will have a sort of origin story and more character development. The last shot with him looking mostly like the video game character, i think there are the last moments of the film, which will set up the sequel, but honestly, i think they should give it up by now the idea, because this will never be a profitable film. Initially, before the leaked images and first poster showed up online, i thought 60-65 mil. $ at the domestic Box Office, and 150 mil. overseas, BUT NOW, with all this neagative response, i'd say 35-40 mil. in the US, and 130 mil. international.
The most frustrating thing is that, Jim deserves better than this, which will be another low point in his career.

Same thoughts here.
I did grow up with a Sega Mega Drive and the presence of Sonic, though. The CGI for the character is rather mediocre. It doesn't blend that well with the background in multiple shots and the quality of it looks like it's made 10 years ago. For comparison, check the Detective Pikachu trailer. People always say, it's just the trailer. There's a lot of time to fix it. But most of the time, what we see in trailers, is often as good as it gets. Studios make sure those shots look at their very best.
The design for the characters not great either, but I think I can get over that. Besides, that's something they can't fix anymore. It's on the posters, it's on the merchandise, it's out there. Too late.
Jim Carrey might save the movie a little bit, but they already made the mistake of showing the version of Robotnik we won't see till the end. So viewers will be pissed of for that. From what we saw, I already think he didn't have much to work with and they went for someone like him to spice things up.
I do want to see it, but expectations are lower than they already were now. This has a $90M budget, so I don't see it flopping at the box office. But it will be destroyed by the audience and critics. The pre-hate is huge. Still, kids will want to see it and a lot of nostalgics will too. The reaction to Carrey going back to his 90s thing is getting positive reactions, most of the times. Won't be a big hit, but might make back the money. Forget about the sequel. Won't happen.
This should have been animated, spiderverse-style and with respect for the original designs. A cinematic reboot in about ... 6 years?

The reason I was hink it will do alright and break even for sure, is because of the kids and nostalgic people like me. So, it's realistic.
Time will tell. I hope for the best.

Seems like a few people sre upset about
Sonics teeth
His bottom jaw does seems sunken
If they can do antthing about it
I think that would b a good idea
Get several views kids, youth + adults
On different teeth and jaw looks
Disney had to revamp Mickey mouse
Theres gotta be a wat to fix this
Where more people like the look of
Sonic

Re: Jim Carrey in Final Talks to Star in 'Sonic the Hedgehog
Big News: SONIC, the character itself, is getting a redesign before the release. The director confirmed, the negative response was so immense, they decided to redo it. And that's uncommon in this stage. This means the budget is going up and all the promotion will be replaced. NOW I'm scared there's a chance this won't be profitable. We'll see. Glad they are doing this, though, so fans feel pleased (or at least heard) and might go see it.
Very curious what this will do at the box office.

Hope the storyline and screenplay is good. They can't fix it anymore.
Despite bad CGI, I liked it (mostly due to Jim's screen presence)

Re: Jim Carrey in Final Talks to Star in 'Sonic the Hedgehog
I've been a big gamer my whole life and Sonic is very dare to my heart. I'm very relieved they are fixing the design of Sonic. However, my daughter likes how cute the new Sonic looks. I'll be taking my kids to the theaters to see this, hoping it turns out great! I think Jim will do a great job playing Dr Eggman/Robotnik!

Re: Jim Carrey in Final Talks to Star in 'Sonic the Hedgehog
When u look up about hedgehogs
They often curl up in s ball
The do show Sonic in a ball like streak
But he doesnt really have to have big long legs
If hes rolling and his speed is like a ball
Rolling over the land and
He jumps but that can be from little short legs
I know alot of short people who can jump
Really well
Whenu see a scurrying chipmunk its amazing
A little like sonic
I think he should be
