Carrey's desire to rename the lake after his daughter
Bancroft Council refused to support a motion to change the name of Lake McGibbon in Dungannon to Lake Jane, even though the request was born out of actor Jim Carrey's desire to rename the lake after his daughter.
"The motion was defeated," said Bancroft councilor Peter Whitehead. "The name of the lake is an old family name long established, and the OGNB's own mandate itself says it doesn't like naming lakes off of still living people, and Jim Carrey's daughter Jane is still very much alive."

I think it was kinda sweet....
but why not just get a big piece of property and have someone back hoe a mini-lake and do that? She can have whatever fish she wants, whatever landscaping, maybe even a waterfall.
There are lot-sa little lakes up where my dad came from.
But is that really what she wants, better to give them what they really want rather than what you think they want, maybe Jim really wants a
Great Lake Jim, sometimes we give gifts that we really want someone to give to us. I wonder if there's any municipalities that appreciate Jim so much they'll name a lake after them, I know there's a Lake Joseph maybe theres a James River somewhere.

Yes, I can understand...
if you have some special memories at a lake or a swim place,
I remember once I jumped of a diving platform, thought the depth was the same as the year before, ended up almost with a headfull of mud, I realized then why the swim instructors said always enter "feet first, so your legs can flex in case it isn't as deep as it was, better yet,I should have checked the depth first.
I have some great swimming hole memories, I think the funest was swinging on a rope into the river.
