New Jim movie - "Me Time"

Post by fluffy »

Variety reports that Jim is onboard to headline a movie provisionally named 'me time' for 20th Century Fox.

Principato-Young is producing with Carrey. Fox picked up the spec script from writing duo Ian Roberts and Jay Martel to develop into a feature for Carrey to topline.

The story revolves around a writer penning a book about his great-great-grandmother, a frontier woman. When his pregnant wife has to go on bed rest, leaving him to care for the house and their other child, his confidence is shaken as he reads his ancestor's diary, in which she describes raising a family, plowing the fields and taming the wild environs.

we'll await official confirmation-
check it out-

Jim looks really happy in that pic...

Post by Canadian Jayne »

He looks great and happy. I'm gland this has come up for him.
That kind of story has sort ofbeen done before but with the technology today this could be a really good one, it all depends on how it is
presented, it could be even better than the Majestic, it just has to have
the right Salt and Pepper combination. Some of the Pioneers had it
really tough especially in Canada, dang cold and I guess in the
Mountains too. My grandma had a set of twins that died because of
the harshness of the weather and that was less than 100 years ago.

If this is ia kind of country movie, sort of like Bonanza

Post by Canadian Jayne »

I'd love to see the actor who plays in "All my Children" as Adam/Stewart
who was on Bonanza "Carradine" I think his name is.
He would be a great guy in this new movie, I think,
he reminds me of Lorne Greene but in a different way.
I was thinking he would be a great father figure in a Western like movie,
last time I watched AMC.
I think it's time.
What does anyone else think?

Also, why haven't they made a movie about....

the time of the great 1914 flu epedemic,
many women were left without husbands, including my grandma,
and it hit young men, my grandpa was about 24 - 28 when he died.
It was really devistating for many people.
It was a world wide event.

Hm. It doesn't sound quite appealing, to be honest. It sounds like a 'Daddy Day Care' or something, you know, starring Murphy without him being the funny-man he once was. Bleh.

But i'm curious, as always.

Hmmm, I don't know about this one. Jim is suppose to be selective with scripts and what not, yet this seems very similar to a lot of movies.

eh....I dunno about this one....I think that it's too 'romantically-gushy' for Jim. It doesn't sound interesting, given the description. I just hope that there is some added information later.

Hopefully it revolves around a comedy......hopefully..

I have mixed feelings.

I think it depends on the script...

This could be amazingly great!
It's all up to the crew who presents it.
I wonder if there will be any comedy in this one also.

That would be my kind of MOVIE!! :P  :D
When once asked what I would do if I met Jim I said that I would give him so many hugs because he is so damn HOT and then I would tell him to get married. Response, "he is hot, but...nevermind."

I wonder if 'Children of the Dustbowl' has been shelved and this is a nod to the story...and a way of getting some of the tale told and the subsequent human aspect expressed?........
I think this one might have legs...............'dust bowl' is a really inspirational and strong story.............whoever does it, it deserves to be told somehow............

I don't know, but Id prefer 'The Children of the Dustbowl' plot a lot more than this one.

Dustbowl....

Post by Canadian Jayne »

does not strike me as the name of a movie, I'd want to go see.
Never read Children of the Dustbowl, sounds kinda depressing.
I would take what was really good from Dustbowl and incorporate it
into the new story if it was possible.

"Me,time" don't know if this is a good name to catch the audience to
get people to see.

If this movie has comedy, adventure, adversity, challenge etc,
It can be very good.
Since it is about a guy who has to take care of house, child, mom etc., I can understand that, but is the main focal the Pioneer Grgrgrdmm or
Jim taking care of everything or both, if both the title does not seem to incorportate the two stories. Unless there is another explanation.

i guess we'll know soon enough but i see it taking elements of the hard subsistence life of the Dustbowl migrants and how he's humbled by the comparison......how a typical pampered noughties male stacks up against people who had a real right to moan about their tough lot.........but didn't........they got on on with it and still turned out ok..........
but i could be wrong...........
