esotsm a la greek

Post by george athens »

finally i saw the "esotsm" here in greece and..i feel good!
the movie was a little bit complex but i like it.kauffman is great.winslet was brilliant!and Jim?Jim was fantastic in a totally different role more calm than ever!generally the film was good-not the best of Jim as i read but good enough!-unfortunatelly kauffman's universe didn't attract too many people but the 30 million dollars is a record for a kaufman's movie!
according to the oscars i don't think Jim will be nominnated-he was better as truman or as andy, without saying here he was not great-except the academy gives him a nominnation for..the previous wrong judgements.
...ok,ok forget these.i want him being nominnated and he deserves it!
go Jim go!!!

I think he summoned something extra for this role. There was more intensity, more grit and pain than I've seen from him before. It felt very realistic and organic.
Ahhhhh I soooo agree with that! Jim's performance is so amazing because it's so real! In MOTM, yes he did become Andy Kaufman but he was a larger than life character. In Truman, he was a regular guy in a fantastic reality. With Joel, Jim played a real internal role of a real guy in the real world. Yes, there's the sci-fi aspect of the storyline, but it was just a sub-plot. What Joel experienced was real. It was his memories playing in his mind. And outside of his head, Joel was an every-day guy. There was no character that Jim had ever played in the past that was anything like Joel (the closest I can find is Stanely when he wasn't The Mask). There was no larger than life aspect to him. Jim really played him internally, you can look at his eyes in any scene from that film and see the pain, the confusion and the sadness. Jim really acted a storm in ESOTSM.

first of all i agree that Jim was fantastic as i said in "esotsm".in a totally different role than ever,a "real guy" role as belbee said!he deserves an oscar nominnation at least!!!i didn't say the opossite!
i just have some doubts because he was ignored for 2 great performances and he may be ignored again.i read in a magazine that winslet will be nominnated but not Jim.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/mad.gif ALT=">:">
anyway my point is that Jim deserves an oscar nominnation but academy may ignore him as usuall.on the other hand i agree with you mrsjimjcomessageboard that he have many possibilities to get nominnated!if academy gives him a nominnation(or an oscar, who knows?) this is the perfect-until now- role to do that.furthermore critics loved his performance!
it's time!cross your fingers!!!(and a little pattient until the oscar announcements)!
