On April 8th, "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" hit the theaters! Jim Carrey reprised his role as Dr. Robotnik in the new adventure of our favorite blue hedgehog. Based on the video game series published by Sega. The movie was praised for the action sequences, visuals, humor, animated characters, and the cast's performances. Box Office:
The movie was a huge box office success grossing more than the first movie and having a great first weekend with $72,1 million. The biggest in Jim Carrey's career. And becoming the highest-grossing video game film in the United States. The total box office worldwide was $402 million! This includes $190,8 million in USA and $211,7 million overseas for the $110 million Sega video game adaptation.

You can't watch it in theaters anymore, but you can get it on DVD & Blu-ray. Included on Blu-ray are All-new animated short featuring Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, Robotnik Reimagined with Jim Carrey, The Powerful puncher: Knuckles, Bloopers, Deleted scenes & much more. Released on August 9th.

Full synopsis:
After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.
From the filmmakers behind "The Fast and the Furious" and "Deadpool", "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" stars James Marsden, Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, and Jim Carrey returning, alongside new additions Shemar Moore, with Idris Elba as the voice of Knuckles, and Colleen O'Shaughnessey as the voice of Tails.
A third film is scheduled for a December 20, 2024 release, while a spin-off miniseries starring Knuckles is in development and is scheduled to be released in 2023.
