I was a big Patricia Cromwell fan, but I'm looking for a new writer and suggestions?

Hunter S. Thompson was/is the best. Buy any of his books. They're all great. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was pure genius. He's like a mixture of Earnest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Anything from Thomas Harris is excellent - his books, Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs - read more like screenplays than actual novels. Bram Stoker's Dracula was also a fine peice of work and you can read it free here: www.vladtheimpaler.com.

Try checking out Hemingway's A Farewell to Arms and The Garden of Eden. Both books are gold and they are very unpredictable and engrossing.

Most people here know that I'm a huge Harry Potter fan. I also like anything written by Frank Perretti.

As a child I was fascinated by anything to do with American Indians. There was a series of books about a white baby that gets raised by indians and my dad and I read every one.

I like Jean Auel - Clan of the Cave Bear series.

Edward Rutherford - London - was a fascinating read.

I love Roald Dahl's short stories.

There are tons of books that have had an effect on me in one way or another.

Only faintly, that particular scent is being overwhelmed by the smell of magic. And pine. . . I smell Pine.

The only book I've read more than once is A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess, very philosophical and funny! Just read it for the nadsat, it's great!

I happen to be a mental health advocate, but Dr. Jamison is a wonder. Her books on depression are compassionate and educational; but her medical journals are awe inspiring. Did you know bipolar cycle seasonally. Predictable illness, a lot lot seasonal affective disorder. Sort of like not enough sunshine.  :P
