24 hours of great music (Freddie Mercury) end world hunger; or was it AIDs. I can't remember now, but the show was spectacular it was during the 1980's. I love it when people come to and rally to raise money for the poor/sick/homeless. Comic Relief was another one.

it was the Famine in Ethiopia which inspired it.............a BBC news report had Midge Ure in tears and he contacted Bob about doing a benefit gig...........it was Midge who started it all.........NOT BOB!!!!!.......

and the whole of the UK ground to a halt that day and howled at the 'Cars' moment.................it was broadcasting history in the making and everyone could feel it...........

fluffy

Bandaid was so much better then our "Hands across america".

Bono's "Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you" still chokes me up.

Ahh geez now I am singning Christmas songs in July.lol
"And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas time. The Greatest gift they'll get this year is life." Ok I need to stop

I remember watch the first Live Aid. My brother and I sat and watched the whole thing and my dad taped the lot of many VHS tapes!
Iconic day.

Oh, and I always remember the bits from backstage and the in-between peformances bits. Bob Geldof, on live TV, shouting "Give us yer f***ing money!!!!".
