Proud to be misty-eyed: 37 billion

America has a lot of other countries who kind of trash-talk her...but today Warren Buffet, one of the richest men in America gave away 37 billion to the Bill Gates charitable foundation. This money won't stay in America...it is for international philanthropy.
There's also an attitude of hating the rich lately...
It makes my American heart happy and proud that such moguls want to help everyone.

Some get lucky and win the lottery....others work hard to be millionairs...I don't hate-I appreciate what they have became, because dreams do come true-it can happen to you...

I have some problems with people like Angelina Jolie who seem to wear their philanthropy on their sleeve.
Buffett was going to do it after his death apparently, but he lost his wife, so he decided to do it now.
I doubt he'll be going on TV or into Cinema seeking to make his profile much larger.
God bless Warren Buffett.

To me, it doesn't matter now that he's giving VIRTUALLY all of it away.
I know he owned a few companies.

Why do you have a problem with people like her? I think she and Brad Pitt are such an amazing couple for wanting to help out whenever and wherever they can!!

Is it something wrong with showing openly that you care about others? Maybe you're refering to that they just do it as a PR-trick or?

I definitely agree with you there!!
Myself I'm definitely not striving to make as much money as possible! I'd be happy as a clam really if I can just get enough to get by. I think no matter what you earn you can always help others the best you can, if you want to that is.
I certainly don't have anything against rich people
at all, but I have to say that I admire those more who show in diffrent ways that they want to help others in need. Of course they're aloud to do whatever they want to with their money. But common, if you think about if you guys got famous yourself one day; how would you react? Would you become so high on yourself and think "
One for all and more for me!" (as Cardinal Richelieu -Tim Curry- say in "The Three Musketeers"-movie from -93) or "
One for all and all for one"?

I do feel like it's a publicity thing with them.

I really don't think so myself! Angelina was passionate about helping others even before she met Brad. And so was he. I saw -for instance- a documentary he once did about helping the Grizzly bears, and he seemed genuenly interested in that. For me they will always be two
very beautiful people, both inside and out!

I don't think they court the publicity they are subjected to........the poor buggers are hounded to pieces.........

............but i have a lot of time for Angie........she's given too poor wee souls a chance........

The thing that makes me say, Hmmm....although I'm aware I shouldn't judge someone without knowing them...is that Angelina seems to have always sought the spotlight. Vials of blood around the neck....kissing her brother...etc. And I think she helped break up Brad and Jennifer's marriage. And there was a ton of "Are they or aren't they?" But the timing was/is so suspect.
I'd really like to believe that they are altruistic, but the history of publicity can't be discounted.

Yes, action does speak louder than words... But that about Angelina seeking attention... Don't we all do crazy things sometimes &
wouldn't it be boring if all people acted the same way?

We're all diffrent and that's what makes us special; as Natasha Bedingfield sings in her song "We're All Mad"; "
We're all mad in our own way Colours fade the grey away" And that's sooo true I think; where would our world be without those people who does crazy things sometimes; like Jim as well...

Also atleast Angelina seeks attention in a cool way, and not a slutty way, like for instance our Swedish "model" Victoria Silverstedt...
Angelina -for me- gives out the impression that you should dare to be yourself and help others when you can; so eventhough I haven't even met her I certainly respect her!
Also with the triangle between Jennifer, Brad and Angelina; sometimes two people weren't right for eachother afterall, so... basically I think Jennifer will be able to find her
true soulmate one day too. Myself I'm just so happy for Brad and Angelina that they found eachother.
