I dont think age matters either. It may pose a problem if children are involved, unless it's a really old dude. Then you can have two people who don't eat solid food and need to wear diapers.

I agree. I don't think age has a alot to do with it either. That is to say, physical age. I think mental age has a LOT to do with it. I am not the same person now that I was when I was twenty. Sometimes, I wish I had gotten married back then, so I'd have been with someone who had gone through the last fifteen years of my life with me and would understand it...a "grow together" kind of thing.
I meet quite a few 35 year-old guys (especially if they are single) that don't seem to have a ... I'm trying to say this without being harsh ... that are "wishy washy" about things and don't take the idea of commitment very seriously. Maybe it's because they got jaded or burned when they were younger. But I'm no psychiatrist, so I have no idea.

I agree, alot of men between the ages of 23-38 are wishy washy, they aren't serious and they don't like relationships, all they want is sex without love attached to it, I always end up being friends with guys in their 40's, I can just relate to them better and have meaningful conversations with them, plus they seem to be more respectful and not just out to "get some" I have never gone out with a guy who was around my age either, I just can't, they're always much older than me

It takes two to tango, and I'm far from perfect, so I know I have to own the responsibility for my single status.
I'm not sitting under the cover with my fists balled up having a mini tantrum about the fact that Prince semi-Charming has eluded me.
I tried the online thing. That's not working so well. I honestly got an email from a guy telling me to check out his profile and the two sentences he wrote about himself talked about being hurt "bad" by women and not liking them much right now.
That gave me pause. I admired his honesty, but wouldn't want to be stabbed on a first date.

I didn't reply.
Two men in Africa (living there now) are VERY interested. I'm thinking not so much in me as in a green card.
I've talked to a few nice guys, but there's a messenger service that I can't even sign ON to anymore because of out-of-the-blue ten pm messages from "2hot4you".
"How do you feel about sex?" is NOT a good introductory line. At least try a "hello" first!

It sounds like it was Jim. After all he did say he hates women and he has been badly hurt by them. Oh my Quirky you may have turned Jim down!lol

I have always hung out with older people, not just men. I remember when I was in HIgh school Most of my friends were in college or had already established careers. I never tried the online dating thing. It seems superficial somehow.
Everybody-- " someday my prince will come, LA LAA LA LAA LAA LA."

quirky - My honest piece of advice would be to stay away from whacko and 2hot4you and narrow down the search to your current continent
I know you said you live in a small town. Could you get a job in a city? Then you could meet more and interesting people.....

I am in the city frequently Mav. I don't think it's so much that I'm isolated as that I'm in a weird age group. Where I live (the wholesome midwest) guys typically marry younger.
Cotton - good point. Did he really say that? That's a weird statement. From most accounts he was a bit of a "rounder" in his youth. And he talked about ESOTSM being a message to some past relationships. Maybe if he's getting nipped by women it's karma. The other karma is that he has a DAUGHTER who he has to guide through the minefields of dealing with the opposite sex.
Don't people tend to gravitate towards people who are similar to themselves?

He said he hates women in the bonus materials on the Eternal dvd and he has said in many interviews how he has been hurt badly by women plus he also said he was going to submit his photo to an online dating service(Oprah 2003)Ok well he was joking about the dating service. I think

You know...for all the pervy IM's I get you'd think I posted some lascivious photo of me. But I didn't.

cotton - Jim has been hurt by women, but he doesn't hate them
We see him getting mighty upset on hearing himself say that (in the dvd) and saying "I don't, no, I don't (hate women)" , then hugs Kate.
Sometimes one says things on the spur of the moment that one doesn't really mean.

He just hasn't found the right one. I mean, come on, I haven't met him yet. J/K Who knows he might really into bachlorhood, if you know what I mean(wink wink) Alot of actors his age are not looking for relationships, they would rather date around, like, Bruce Willis, George Clooney, etc. It wouldn't surprise me if he is. He is a GUY.
