The Gita is my favorite book. My friend and I were talking about it and she said 'So do you mean we should all be robots? Inaction in action. What is that supposed to mean?' I don't know. When I read the gita, I only notice the sweetness of the preacher (although it is set on a battlefield)

I could really use your prayers right now, because they way God is stacking my life up, it looks like I'm gonna be the handmaid even though everything in me is screaming NO. That's the dilemma...I'm selfless.

you need help to regain your self empowerment Quirky......God has nothing to do with that........you are an unhappy human being, first and foremost, and it's issues with God which are screwing you up..........

you need to give yourself a break.......look to the sky, breathe deeply and do stuff for you............
stuff that might seem selfish to some...but feels right to you.........
you're being pulled in too many different directions all at the same time........... take a step back..........

i'm sorry i can't help you more, but my heart goes out to you......

I wrote a little potato joke, but it didn't look right....

Here's a prayer I like -

Sweet lord! Let our hearts be strong, let us win our minds
Before I admire another, let me admire the you in me.

Weed out discriminations from our hearts
Let us forgive others that wrong
Let us be wary of lies, help us escape the fear
Before I admire another, let me admire the you in me.

quirky - Here is a saying from a yogi.... he'e quite lofty, but his teachings make a lot of sense to me, infact they are parallel to my own realizations in life!

"We are to take care of ourselves. That much we can do; and give up attending to others, for a time. Let us perfect the means; the end will take care of itself. For the world can be good and pure, only if our lives are good and pure. It is an effect; and we are the means. Therefore, let us purify ourselves. Let us make ourselves perfect."

Let us make ourselves perfect.
But then there's the dilemma, all over again.

Maybe I should join a Buddhist monastery for females.

It's IMPOSSIBLE to be perfect. We all fall short of perfect.

But I think I will take some of the advice and maybe have ANOTHER nap and have a long hot soaky bath tonight.

Then I can procrastinate on the REAL problems I have like...how am I gonna earn a living? And where the hell is my soul mate?

This might sound a little funny, coming from me, but maybe you can come up with a solution by compromising a bit. What I mean is, you're already compromising right now, by helping out your grandmother. That's a given.

But what about looking within your community to see if there are any social services you can take advantage of, to help you out a bit? So that for a few hours, you can go out and escape. Maybe do something to help you unwind. Maybe an audition?

I don't know your personal situation, and I don't think it's necessary, bc it sounds like you're at the end of your rope, and don't really have a life to call your own. (many of us here can relate to that)

And it doesn't sound like you have any siblings, cousins or anyone to help you out (do you?)

But I did a little bit of research and saw that the California Dept of Social Services has In-Home Supportive Services for the elderly. (if you already know about this, I apologize)

The requirements are:
- you must be over 65 years of age, OR disabled OR blind. (IHSS is considered an alternative to out-of-home care, such as nursing homes or board and care facilities.)

The types of services which can be authorized through IHSS are:
- housecleaning, meal preparation, laundry, grocery shopping, personal care services (such as bowel and bladder care, bathing, grooming and paramedical services), accompaniment to medical appointments, and protective supervision for the mentally impaired.

Here is the website:
http://www.dss.cahwnet.gov/cdssweb/In-HomeSup_173.htm

Sometimes, we need to focus on things, one step at a time, to get ourselves back on track. For some, it may be baby steps, and for the lucky ones, it might be huge strides. But whatever, tackle it like it's algebra and see what happens.

Hope this helps you out a bit.

I really suck at sayings and philosophical musings, but here is a familiar motto I'm presently clinging to, which I've customized a bit.

"If at first you don't succeed, try try again. And when that doesn't work, try try again. And if that doesn't work, don't give up. If that fails, one more time. If it starts to hurt, give it another shot. When you can't take the pain anymore, repeat the process. And finally, when you're down and out, take another crack at it."

Allright quirky. Hottub sounds good. I'll pray that the vanilla scented candles lull grandma to sleep before she remembers you're out of celery for the potato salad.

She really is an angel.

And you must be a mystic.

How did you know I put celery in my potato salad.

My grandma is great, really. The problem is me.
